i am slowly putting the axles and supension arms together; no problem there.
But i have a problem regards the correct item regards suspension shaft for the long and short hubs.
The engineering drawing(s) shows that item ce0259 suspension shaft 5.0 is to be used for both units. this cant be.
So which item goes with the long axle set?

Hi Dave.

From my understanding, the choice of whether you use a CE0259 5.0 Suspension Shaft or a CE0260 5.5 Suspension Shaft depends upon whether you are fitting them in the first/last two positions on each side (5.5mm torsion bar) or the middle ones (5.0 torsion bar).

The end of the Suspension Shaft which attaches to the Suspension Arm (CE0208) should be identical between the two shaft types, so it shouldn't matter whether it's a long or short axle.

Adrian.

Hello Dave

Adrian is right the 4 shafts at the front and the four shafts at the back are 5.5 and the middle ones are 5.0

thanks very much Adrian and Lee for that explanation; i was thinking that ONLY the selected torsion bar was to be used in back and front slots
BUT your mails have shown that i needed to think a little deeper
than i was naturally prepared to go.
Now that i can see the bigger picture it all makes sense.
I was getting into a tizzy and wondering IF i was going to loctite incorrectly several items together.

On the suspension theme did your road wheels run with a wobble
or run smoothly. I set up a trial set and it runs with a distinct wobble when spun

Hello Dan

There is some wobble but when the full load is on the tracks it will ok.
Macke sure that the washer on the bearing is tight but not too tight to bind up the bearing. Loctite them with 243

thanks Lee for reassurance regards wheel wobble under no load conditions.

I have had to invest in a 4mm plug tap and a set of taps and dies; the threads have not been fully 'cut' on the suspension components
so wouldnt fully screw home

The loctite i got was 243 but that wasnt what i initially wanted but the tool stockists only had that as an alternative to my shopping list requirement.

Anyway major production of wheel sets undertaken this weekend before a gardening break due to a medical procedure next week.
So a break in building is in the offing; i will be back later no doubt to pick the collective minds of the forum members
