All,

So I have started assembling my Late Tiger 1 Tank. The plan is to fully assemble, then dissemble, and then paint.

However, a good friend of mine works at a rather large Powder Coating facility and could do all of the parts at a fraction of the price. I believe Powder coating is superior to regular paints, from what i have been told.

My concern is, how would this process help/hurt/benefit the end result of this model? Due to the very 'tough' finish, I am concerned that it may hinder my ability to add finishing touches to the model.

Any thoughts?

Maybe I could go for the 'New Factory' look with Powder Coating.

But my original goal was a Russian Winter 'White Wash'.

Hello James . I had thought about powder coating . The problem that I can see is that it comes out glossy. Also to thick . And remember you have to add zimmmert to your tiger anyway . Plus I think it will be hard to paint and weather over the top . James if you go to the old forum and do a search you will find posts on painting I hope this helps . James where are you ??? That helps a great deal. All the information gathered confirms that powder coating is not a good choice for this particular model.

I am located here in Richmond, Virginia (USA). Armortek and 1/6th scale modeling seems to be a unknown around these parts, based on the 'wide eyed' and shocked expression that that I am building a 1/6th scale tank.

"Looks like a WWII German Factory in your garage." is the most common comment I get. Which is correct, for you see, my plans for world domination (on a 1/6th scale) are slowly coming together.
