Tank Overhaul DVD available for pre-order at Amazon.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Overhaul-D ... 742&sr=8-1
It doesn't say which episodes it contains, though it does appear to have the Elefant on the cover.

I really like this series, I just wish they would concentrate on the vehicle they are restoring for the whole programe, ie more on the nuts and bolts side, with more of the smaller details, instead of playing the ubiquitous rock music as we are lead away to to look around yet another M1 Abrams charging around a vast expance of desert, at least the dvd will let me skip those parts.............Thanks for the link Adrian.

Hi Adrian.
I managed to watch all 4 episodes the first night at work.
The Centurion episode was one I hadn't seen before. What was shown is the very early progress of the restoration at Duxford, changing the barrel for a Mk3 20 pounder, and the removal of the gearbox. They reckon it 's a 3 year project for Duxford. There was also some footage of a Canadian museum restoring a Mk5-2 for the Canadian Army, but they are a very small outfit, and are lookig at a 10 year refit.
There is some good footage from Korea, where it's performance was outstanding. It was able to operate in the most inhospitable terrain, and climb the steepest climbs. They would regularly perch on top of hills, and provide covering fire with the excellent 20 pounder.
What little of the restoration that is shown is very well presented. If there was a chance that there would be follow up episodes following the whole process, this episode would seem more worthwhile. Having spoken to some people involved in several other episdoes, this is unlikely.
There is the usual diversion to modern tanks, with some footage of a Challenger. It isn't to much of a distraction from the main subject, and it is justified by the thought that the Centurion is such an influence on all British post war tanks. The wosrt example of this has got to be in the Elefant episode where thet try to compare it to a M109 Paladin.
Come on, not even close.
I think this just abuot covers it
Cheers
Mick
