Futaba 40 mhz to 2.4 Ghz

Hi Guys

I have a futaba T9CHP super 9 (PCM1024) transmitter. These are the ones with the modules in the back. Has anyone tried a 2.4 module in the back of these, and do you have the item code? or best buys? uk or over sea's.

The question I am wanting to ask is 'do these work okay with just the module in the back'? or is a new 2.4 set better? (which would now be a 10 channel transmitter).

Been looking on sites and they only show a 8 channel module to go in the super 9, so am I right in thinking that I will loose one channel?

Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richie

Hi Richie

I think you are right. I appears that Futaba have dropped the 9 channel set-up. It loooks like you will loose a channel if you convert to 2.4. It doesn't even appear to be possible to fit a 10 channel module, and have a redundant channel.

Still, if you stick with 40MHz, there will so few of you, there won't be a problem with frequencies :!: :D :D

Hi Mick

Thanks for your reply. Been speaking to Ripmax today, the 10 channel module will not work in a 9 channel. The only module which fits it is the 8 channel, so i will loose 1 channel because its not PCM mode. So now I've got a hard decision. Should I buy the module and receivers or do a buy a 12 channel 2.4 and sell mine??????? I need to think hard to get the best deal.

That's only cheap if you're lucky enough to get it past C&E without the VAT, duty and collection fee...

Hi Richie,
Why dont you buy a 10 channel Futaba 2.4 like mine a 10CG-2.4GHZ no where near £900 and no problems with customs cheap enough in UK. :) :)

Richie,

The FF9/T9 radio was only ever a 9 channel radio if you had a PCM receiver! And these are as rare as hens teeth. On ordinary PPM it was only ever 8ch.

Us in the SE have quite a few of these superb radios with Futaba 2.4Ghz modules in them, either the TM7 or TM8 (ie 7 or 8 ch) and they work very very well. The FF9/T9 radios are so versatile with umpteen diferent variables you can set up. Also, they are two a penny (well, not quite that cheap!) on Ebay secondhand as people always sell them to upgrade to 2.4Ghz!!!

There are also two or three Chinese companies making 'compatible' 2.4Ghz Tx modules and Rx's but I've no experience with these. Although more expensive I think I'd stick with the Futaba originals just in case.
