Fender tread plate adhesive question.

Post by Lawrence Godson »

I'm wondering about the indicated adhesive for the fender tread plates. Is low strength Loctite, as indicated in the instructions, correct? I was considering a good two part epoxy or perhaps a very tough contact cement because of possible flexing of the fenders.
Thanks.

Thanks Derik,
I'm giving it a try with the 2 part epoxy. It's true what they say -- you can never have too many clamps!

Hi Lawrence
I did one section at a time and used loads of clamps.
I also used 60 grit Al oxide paper to get a good key on the fender and the back face of the brass.
Any glue that comes through the holes in the plates I removed with cotton buds and acetone.
You will get glue on you fingers a pair of gloves help its a bit messy !!.

I'm almost finished --experienced all that you did and it seems to be working out fine also. Two more sections to go - hopefully this evening.
Thanks again!
