Hello Guys
I search the form for hours looking for the "How to make the Mud Guards"
I think Steve Winstone was asked how he made these parts.So I search and can't find that thread.
Also I was wondering how the end caps are made for the "Stowage Tube"
Is the tube that came in the kit used? to me the wall seams to be too thick.
For the mud guards what are the ribs made from? Are they round stock and file flat on 1 side into a 1/2 round shape?
And the little door on the inside of the mud guard,do you bend an "L" shape and then just curve the top? to match the shape of mud guard?
All these parts are so small.
I need to see if I can make these parts,I have never even tried.
Can anyone answer these questions? Thanks to all from Dan.

I have 2 books that should teach me how to make the parts for my models.They are The complete metalsmith and How to cast small metal and rubber parts.The 2nd talks about "lost wax" .Years ago I had a interest in blacksmithing,so much that I took a class in massachusetts.I was the 3rd person to sign up but when I got there I was 13 in the class.
I want to try the ideas I have and the things that Steve Winstone talked about.Like annealing brass before shaping it.
I still need some things before I can start.I just can't get over how small some of these parts are. Dan

Hi Dan,

I have never posted any information on the Mudguards, it could have been Vince Abbot a couple of years ago on the old forum.
I have however done a few upgrades on the Armotek Mudguards below are a couple of photos if they are any help to you. There is a reinforced strip on one edge but you must bring it out 2mm to bring it in line with the rest of the track guards. The cut out for the flap has to be made bigger, and the flap itself is 2 pieces of steel shaped and silver soldered, the ribs are 3/32 half round brass soldered on. The last photo is of the press tools I made to make the end caps for a batch of gun cleaning tubes that I made.

I don't remember the name of the person who's post I was thinking of.
Your craftman skills are very good.I had no idea how that end cap was formed.That looks like tool and die work,may be I should have taken that class in school.
