My thanks to Stuart and Stewart for sticking with it, through all the trials and tribulations of booking minutiae, and to Sven for making the trek down from Ghent to trail along behind us between each photo opportunity

Great pictures guys. Looks like a fascinating tour. Good to put faces with names. Would love to see that area someday myself. Lots of crosses in those cemetarys - mind boggling the sacrifice on boths sides, and civilians! Brings the reality home for me.
Thanks for posting the pix.

Unfortunately, in the musuems, most of the exhibits were behind glass screens, which makes photography difficult:

But I did get the hang of indirect lighting after a while

There were a few things within easy reach, usually the bits too heavy to fit in a pocket, such as these Sherman and Sd.Kfz track links:

One item of note was this 20 tonne jack:

Wish I'd had the foresight to try the handle...

The Bastogne Historical Centre has a total ban on photography inside the museum, which was a real pain as they have an M4 half track as part of the display. Jimmy, our excellent guide, told us that they fear the whole centre will close in 2011, though he was not sure why. It certainly seemed quite busy to me, for an Autumn Saturday.

There is a picture on the notice board showing it upside down in a stream near the bridge. No visible battle damage.
