Tiger I/II Muzzle brake

Post by Hugo Schittich »

Hi to all,

we have now ready the prototype of the muzzle brake for the 8.8cm guns of the Tiger I and II (only early models).

The muzzle brake is constructed with all the correct measures, angels and dimensions from the original one. It consists of 7 pieces:
  • one body from 3D-Printer ABSplus material
  • two inner rings from brass - bushing
  • one outer locking ring from aluminium
  • one little pin with one screw from brass
  • one application to fasten the muzzle break on the gun
For production we need about 50 customers. Please send an email if you are interested in one of the muzzle brakes.

Here are some pictures from the built muzzle brake:

Beautiful muzzle Hugo :!:

Will you make the lighter type as well?
If so you can put me on the list for one.

This early (bigger) muzzle Hugo makes was used on Tiger I on all 3 variants (early, mid and late).
In April 1944 the lighter variant was introduced (seen on the Vimoutier Tiger I)

On Tiger II this early muzzle can be seen on the early Porsche turret.
Has on ww2 photos only seen the lighter type on Henchel turret Tiger II, but would be most interested to see a photo showing the early type on a Henschel turret as well.

Keep up the good work

Hi Hugo,

Great work and good to see someone getting into details. It will be interesting to see the rest of the tank when finished.

Kent, found this Tiger II, no. 111 from s.SS 101 in Normandy with the early muzzle, not many around though.

Thanks Per!

That photo is evidence the big muzzle was possible (at least) on early Henschel turreted Tiger II. Not common but still possible.

Nice to learn something new every day :D

Ive just ordered one.
I have found out, that the work ive done on the original. There will be to much work on it. I see no other option of getting one of the larger ones.

But if there will be a light one made i will go fo that as it will suit my build as its a oct 44 one.

Btw i love the klick klock on the pavement......so does the neighbours kids
