Hi everyone,

Thanks to Lee Sellars, I picked up a second hand, unbuilt early Tiger just before christmas and thought it's about time I said hello to you all.

Started taking an unhealthy interest in tanks when I got the kids a Tamiya 1/16th Tiger each....then saw Armortek's web site.......read the forum for about a year and realised I just had to get a proper tank!

Thanks to Gill and Mark at Armortek who have been extremely helpful, so all I need to do now is to try to build this thing up to the standard of the models you people build, impossible for me, but if I get somewhere near I shall be happy. The information available on this forum is fantastic and all done in such a friendly way.

Hopefully the test posting pictures below are of some interest and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Regards

Keith

PS Can't take credit for the paint job. A good friend did the weathering on the Tamiya as practise for the big one!

Keith,

If the 1/6th model comes out like the 1/16th then it will certainly be as good as any model I've seen. Keep the build photos coming.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and warm welcome, I do appreciate it. :)

I will get some decent pictures of the big one and get them on here as soon as it gets a bit further along. Still can't decide on a paint scheme yet.....so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards

Keith

Hi Keith,
Welcome to the best tank site i know of :D .
Looking at the exellent paint job on the 1/16 tiger i would just scale that up to 1/6.

Thanks Steve.

I will probably try and have it done the same scheme or something very similar. Got a bit of time yet to decide. I must admit I would be happy if it turned out something like the Tamiya.

Hi Keith,

I' am Yves Mouton from belgium and i have my tiger 1 in 2010 in march.
The weathering paint job on your tiger is very beautiful.
How do you do that? Is it first done with panzer grey and than over done with withe paint?

Best regards
Yves

Hi Yves and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the kind comment.

Yes, the tank was painted originally with the dark yellow/red brown camoflage and then sprayed over the top with matt white paint, using liquid mask to protect the areas required to look worn. A dusting of mud is then applied over the lower areas and rust effect added to the edges.

Best regards

Keith
