Hi all,

I am just starting to think about installing my electronics into my Pz IV and was wondering if it would be possible to make my turret turn via a rotary switch on my transmitter so I can have a fine control over the speed and leave it rotating slowly if I required.
I realise I may have to install a rotary switch on my transmitter but if this is first of all possible what components would I require?

What Transmitter have you got? The Joy sticks do that job aswell.

Armortek tend to supply Electronize switching units for the turret rotation and elevation but there's no reason why you can replace these with a unit such as the Electronize FR30HX.

When controlled by one of the joysticks on the transmitter, this will give you complete control over the speed of rotation of the turret. It won't give you hands free rotation unless you modify the transmitter.

Hi all

It's only the older tanks that use switch units for the turret rotation. All models since the Panther are provided with speed controllers. A rotary switch could be used to operate this speed controller. The turret could not, however, just be left to slowly rotate. This would twist up the turret cable.

Unless you use contact plates like 360 diggers, but it would need to be perfect contact all the way round, and costly :roll:copper rings , the pick up shoes will need to be spring loaded to pick up all the way round, alot of work just to lose one connecter

You can have the turret rotating slowly continously, but it depends on what you want in the turret. First you need a transmiter that has a proportional channel working from a potentiometer like the older 40MHz 6EXA Tx. This can control an Elecronize speed controler to turn the turret. To allow it to turn continuously you have to avoid having any wires going up into the turret. To do this you need a second reciever with its own battery, switch and a servo to work the gun evevation. I think that the Panzer IV gun will be light enough to make it elevate with a servo. The receiver should have the same frequency as the reciever working in the hull of the tank, then you will find that you can have the two receivers working together.
