More silver soldering

This is getting quite addictive - must be the flux vapours

I wasn't terribly happy with the upper suspension housings so decided to try and fill the void between the two parts. First attempt was just using solder, but the type I have doesn't have any kind of gap filling properties.

Second attempt was using 2mm diameter steel rod. This was cut to length, shaped around the curve and filed to avoid the existing welds. The rod was held in place with crocodile clips and then soldered.

The crocodile clips didn't survive the experience

Once the parts have been cleaned up, I'm quite happy with the result.

This is a comparison between the stock part and the modified one.

There are a few other detail differences between the kit parts and the original but I think this is as far as I'm going to go with changes to this part.

Hi,

Really nice work!

Not to be rude, but have you looked at Jeffery Goff's
"Suspension" link further dowen in this topic?

It looks as if you are headed to what he has done.

I am envious and cannot wait for my Tiger.

Hi Brian.

Jeff's modifications are one of the inspirations for making these changes.

I would like to emulate the changes he has made to the tops of these parts but I also need this to be a runner, so I may have to be content with the current configuration.
