Hello Heinz,
Congratulations on your SdKfz 222 and welcome to this forum.
The recommended batteries are acid gel batteries type HGL with a capacity of 12 volt 4,5 Ah or 5Ah. Both these capacities have the same dimensions : 90 x 70 x101/107 mm (length x width x height excluding/including the cable connectors). You will need 2 of these batteries to obtain the required 24 volt. There is no special manufacturer, most "dry cell" brands have these in their programme.
You can fill the gaps between the bodyparts with normal carfiller for steel. On my 222 I used epoxy glue (flüssig Stahl) from the inside to add some extra strength. From the outside I used carfiller for a smooth finish.
Good luck.

Hello Heinz,
There is no particular brand that I would recommend, considering that most lead/gel acid batteries are manufactured in China anyway.
When you search for HGL Blei/Gel or Blei/Vlies Batterien you will get quite some hits. Our friend Conrad has the correctly sized type
http://www.conrad.de/goto.php?artikel=250775 but is quite expensive. You should be able to find them at around Euro 15,- each.
