What size batteries

What size batteries
The recommended batteries for the222 is 2 x 12 5Ah. I want to run as long as possible before re charging can someone help as to what Ah I should be looking for to achieve this? I hav absolutelly no knowledge when it comes to batteries.

Holger,
I have the standard 5 amp set-up and ran the 222 for most of the day at Duxford, North Weald and Beltring.
Each time I got the 222 home it only took 30 minutes for a full recharge with my 24 volt wheel chair charger so I would suggest that there was plenty left in reserve.

Battery Recomendation
Thanks Patrick I think I will stick with them. I have spoken to Gill and Mark and they said I could go up to 7Ah but would need to re arange the inside. But going on your experience I will opt for the 5AH Thanks again

Hi Holger,
for my 222 I I have bought two batteries 7 Ah., but maybe I will change them, because I think that 5 Ah will be easier to install inside the vehicle and are powerful enough.

in this period I am very lazy and I work only a little, perhaps it is guilt of the summertime; fortunately the autumn is arriving.

Hello Holger and Alfredo,
Yes the 7 amp will fit, but the problems or finding somewhere to put the big fuse box would be a pain. As you can see from my snaps on the gallery there is not much space inside the 222.
I taped the two 5 amps together so they appeared as one 24 volt battery, but when I came to put them inside the 222 body the turret column motor got in the way. Therefore I had to return to the two battery system, fitting them one at a time as per the snaps on the gallery.
I have even toyed with idea of fitting smaller than 5 amp, ie. 2.3 amp but the smaller batteries are thin but very long, just like a 7 amp. so there was no saving in space at all.
I have also tried lighter suspension springs with shock absorbers/dampers, but they failed as the body, motor and batteries are so heavy.
This is a very lazy time of year and I agree with you Alfredo it is very hard to get started....., but Please can we see how far you have got?

Thanks for all the info I think I will stick with the 5Ah and see how I go if I find that I need a bigger batteries then I will see what can be done. I don't really want to start messing around with the inside again as all the &Ah are bigger and as you all say not a lot on manouvre inside the body

Thanks for your advice as well all has been very informative and very much appreciated but as I replied to Patrick for now I will stick with the 5Ah and get some enjoyment out of the 222 before the winter.
