Noisy Steering Servo

I've had to replace a faulty HSR-5995 steering servo in my 222 with the current Hitec replacement model, which is the HSR-5990TG.

This works fine, but whines like a demented mosquito most of the time

Is this usual for these servos - :?:

There seems to be a difference of opinion on t'web as to whether this noise is normal for a digital servo or a sign that the it is continually under load and hence trying to maintain its position :?

Hi Adrian.
I have the servo supplied with the kit and it makes the same high pitch wine. Dont Know if this is normal or not but would be good to find out.

I don't think it should whine. disconnect it from the steering and see if it centres ok and stops whining. If not I would seek a replacement. If it does stop whining then check the steering is free.

All this whining and the wife isn't even about - hope she doesn't see this!!
