I've just joined the bridge club
Away on holidays at the moment but Monique is putting a bridge kit aside for me. Lots of research ahead now. Did the Germans ever capture a Bailey bridge?

Re: I've just joined the bridge club
I would be very surprised if the Germans never captured one during the Ardennes Offensive ( Battle of the Bulge ). I presume the Germans would have destroyed the existing bridges during their previous retreat through this sector to delay the allied advance and therfore Bailey Bridges would have been used. I consider it very unlikey that the bridges had all been repaired allowing the bridging equipment to be deployed elsewhere when the Germans attacked.John Fitzsimons wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 7:57 amAway on holidays at the moment but Monique is putting a bridge kit aside for me. I cannot say for certain that they did capture one and quote the location but believe it feasable and highly likely.

It's quite a tight fit with the wider German vehicles...
