Morning guys

Anyone by any chance have any additional images of Panther 432 from the 116th Panzer Division?

Even though I have quite a collection of reference material I only have the one at the moment so was looking for the below scheme from the top/front/rear if possible.

I did a Google Image search of your picture and it came up with this blog:

Pictures of 432 are about two thirds of the way down.

I stand to be corrected, but I’ve always understood that mounting spare wheels on the turret is a hallmark of a Daimler Benz build …….

No Chris. Spare wheels and indeed spare tracks on the turret was a unit field modification 116 Pz.Div was one of the units that attached spare wheels to the turret though not many units hung spare wheels on the turret.

Spare tracks is another unit specific field modification and not all units hung spare tracks. some hung rows of x3 each side some x2 rows of track. some were hung vertical and some horizontal. The brackets themselves were all field made some were simple round L shaped bar welded to the side of the turret, some welded on the top outer edge of the turret and some U shaped just like the spare track brackets on the rear of the hull sides.

The above modification's were not applied to all tanks in a given unit some were Zug (Platoon) specific. Mix and match not uniform.

It's always best to find pictures of a tank you wish to build and work from what was fitted to that tank.
