Hi Folks.
Just a la'al update. Been away on an adventure.
The good news is nothing fell off the model, despite a right royal rough going over; rough ground that is.
A quieter moment.
Be warned the holiday film to follow, you lucky lot
Cheers

Charles looks really great. Glad she's out and about. A bit surprised she looks smaller than a US Jeep tho!
Best regards,
Bob

Thank you Robert.
That would be post war austerity, needs must and down to earth British practicality!
Any US S1's out and about?.
I ask respectfully.
Take care.

Charles.
Looking really good, you must be happy so far...
Still very much in the early stages with my build but I keep getting sidetracked.
Maybe winter will give me more time in the shop.
Well done.

Re: The life and times of No 28.
Hi Folks.
After a cracking run around in some Scottish woodland, without any damage, bits falling off and a few things learnt. A successful trip all in all.
The main outcome is that there is going to be some rewiring over the winter, especially the lighting circuit and that chuffing great switch which my pinkies can't move it when it is placed low down in the engine bay.
One answer, kindly provided, is to replace the switch with a relay, which may fit into the battery bay under the seats: An option .
Could anyone suggest a smaller speaker than that provided with the kit?
Keeping the speaker under the bonnet(hood for the USA) is the best place after all.

Imay look for a smaller speaker so I'll let you know if I find something suitable.
If you have any drawings or specs for fitting a relay as the main power switch I'd be very interested.
Mick.

Visaton do speakers down to 3cm, so you should be able to find one which will fit behind the grill.

Re: The life and times of No 28.
Evening folks.
The process of tidying the wiring has got underway.
The big switch has been replaced with a relay (thank you Mr. Clarke, I wouldn't have had a clue what to get)
I knew that empty space in the fuel tank would be useful.
It all went back together, battery fits and we will camouflage the "handbrake" switch, it works, which is nice.
Thank you Adrian, I have ordered a couple of smaller speakers, we'll see where they can fit.
Til next time, take care.

I'm liking the Relay system and the functionality of the switch.

Re: The life and times of No 28.
Evening all.
Just a little bit of an update.
I have mainly been, thinking speakers. After a couple of recommendations, thank you John & Adrian, we have :-
Next up, make an adapter plate and mount the speaker. Could even fabricate a false radiator top, we'll see.
Take care.
Charles
PS I know there are a lot of scratches, they really annoy me. Halfords Enamel lacquer, beware, seems very brittle to the touch(of anything)

Something like this Charles?Could even fabricate a false radiator top, we'll see.
It's actually the top part of one of the Tiger 1 radiators.
