Re: Bergepanther "A" build log.
It's not easy making your lovely model look beaten and weathered after you spent so much time getting it to look just so. I think I will paint the spade a different shade of dunkelgelb, also the winch house timber sides need to be darker, with maybe a couple of the planks a different contrasting colour as if they have been replaced.
You just have to sit and look at it all and try and think of all the things that might have happened in service, and don't be afraid to change things around, all these little additions make the model more interesting.

- Note the darker shade of the spade, I have considered a red oxide example as if it had been replaced or extensive repairs had been carried out.

For those interested in easy weathering techniques. Chipping and washes, dark wash and dust coat, this is going to be a summer time campaign vehicle.

Picture #4 (of the engine deck) is very convincing! Not sure if I would have caught it, had you put it in the real or fake section...
A little too much is about right...

Guess who's been out with the video camera recovering a stricken Tiger 1?

Re: Bergepanther "A" build log.
The recovery video as promised.
Grab the popcorn as it's nearly ten mins of real time Tiger 1 recovery winching by the Bergepanther "A", all went well with no issues other than very loose tracks on the Bergepanther which made no difference to the pulling performance what so ever.
See if you can work out my TX control drive forward technique with the winch rope paying out and the spade just dragging the ground, then reverse and dig the spade in, then winch again over and over again until the tiger is clear, all done without me having to intervene at all, ideal at shows for a realistic winch recovery scenario

Great video Phil. The audio sounds odd though as if the video is running at slow speed.

Hello Phil,
very good video. One tip, you have to cross the cables when a tank is hauling another tank with two cables.

Re: Bergepanther "A" build log.
Well Vince when I say real time that does mean 1/1 real time not 1/6 th real time, which means slowing the video files down by around 20%, now I could unlink the audio from the video but then you end up with an audio short fall, so I just compromise but it does make the idle engine sound very slow! If you don't slow it all down it looks pants
Regarding the two crossed cables Christian you are quite right but I only have one cable right now

Re: Bergepanther "A" build log.
Last few detail jobs to do with the Bergepanther like change that driving light and weathering, always fiddling with the weathering although a little use is by far the best for the running gear.
Then do I sell it? If I do then the price will be around 10k for this one of a kind, the only one on the entire planet Armortek Begerpanther Ausf "A"

Phil
Your Berg is fantastic. If I had that kind of money I'd scoop it up. My money must go for kitchen upgrades and fence. I''m sure you will find a happy buyer. Your builds of late are another level of detail. Really enjoyed following them. Although I was a little miffed there were not more finished high res Famo pix. LOL
Best regards,
Bob

Re: Bergepanther "A" build log.
I have spent some time experimenting with those beautiful towing bars, dragging a vehicle is not a problem, pushing is not so easy. the old range target Tiger1 is a bugger to pull or push as the running gear has been shot at and blown up so many times it's all way out of line and I think the hull is probably twisted as well.

- The high pressure smoker is working well, it was blowing around 10 knots during the shoot and the smoke was still looking good. This photo shows the exhausts pointing directly into wind.
