More painting and weathering of the wheels completed.

The contact area of the center wheels and guide horns has been touched in silver , This is proberbly a waist of time as i suspect when run this will be worn away to reveal bare metal.

Drive sprockets next.

Steve,
Excellent paint effects on the hull and wheels. I was wondering how you "sanded" or removed the paint off the wheels to look so realistic! My Panther has yet to wear the paint off these areas but the real tanks did for sure. Looking very good. Love those Idlers too! Keep up the great work.
Best regards,
Bob

Very realistic. Strange that I like the effect when painted on but when my wheels get chipped naturally I get annoyed. I think I need to see someone. great work.

i have spent the last week or so doing the drive sprockets, Its been a nice little project on there own and i think they have come out very well. I must admit that i took my inspiration from the work that Kent put into his sprockets and a lot of the detail is down to his research and effort (Thanks Kent).

Cast effect and casting numbers, bolts added to rear drive sprocket ring.

Veiw of the bolts for the rear sprocket ring.

Etch primer added, showing the casting numbers and cast effect.

Overall view showing Mike Stannards locking tabs added.

The final bit still to do are the sprocket caps, hopefully these wont take long and i can post some shots of the completed installation.

Love the paint effect on the wheels - any one of those photographs could be of a 1:1 Panther.

Its been a long time since i posted a update on the Panther as i have been busy with other projects and felt like a rest from the build.
The rest is over and i am now back on it :D

The first 2 photos show the modified rear deck, which have had lowered radiator grills fitted and all the center deck attachment bolt counter bores added, i just need to fit the bolts.

Image

Image

The next 3 photos show the gearbox access cover with the drivers and radio operators hatches installed. I have built the hatch assist spring mechamism out of brass as the Armorpax item is only static and i broke mine trying to modify it  . The trick with this set up is to get the springs with the right loading and of sufficent length ( mine came out of a couple of cheap staplers)
