Thanks Mark
It beats the peice of wood with a 2 1/2 inch hole that I put in my Panzer111.
But I will have to see how I can get my Turn table and seats in now.
Cheers
Phil

Hi Mick,
Don't know whether you want to alter it but your rope bracket is on the wrong way round and in the wrong place. It has been discussed before on this forum. We think it was to prevent the rope fouling on the hatch door.
The hatch door catch looks good, I just bent a piece of 5mm steel for mine as I noticed it needs one, as on the Amortek video Mark's demo was swinging in the wind on the test track. I am using the cold weather to assemble the white metal parts indoors as I have now finished putting 222 washers on the 2 tracks after my mistake.

Dennis.

Hi Mick
Re your photo's going missing.
I had a quick skim through your postings and there was a couple that
said "deleated"
and then "last edited by Michael Hilton 28th november"
Did you deleat or move any of your photo's in photo bucket, because If you
move a photo you can get messages warning about links being broken.
Cheers
Phil

Thanks Dennis, all observations and comments gratefully received. I will make the changes. I am fortunate in being granted leave to build in the dinning room. Mind you , the garage is brass monkeys, so no spraying.

Phil, some of my earlier photos had started to be deleted, not by me, so I just wondered how and why. I have tried to re-post them, without success. I have left things as they are, hoping it is just a glitch....thanks lads....mick

P S have checked Photobucket...the photo's are missing here as well....mmmm :?

Now I know that to longstanding tank builders this may seem a daft question....nevertheless.....is the 'Bustle Box' the same unit as the 'Pannier' on the Comet......Mick

Bustling panniers

Mick

I'm sure you'll find people use the two terms interchangeably.

If you want an answer by the book, the term bustle refers to the rearward extension of the turret on some tanks, particularly modern ones. The bustle was means of increasing storage space under armour in the turret. It was used on some tanks to store ammunition, as it is on the Abrams. That was until people discovered the consequences of the ammunition going off and blowing the turret off. British tanks stow all ammunition below the turret line as a result. The Abrams bustle is designed to detach "gracefully" if hit. Oh really?

Pannier is a term that came from the French word for bread baskets hung either side of a horse (or bike). In AFV usage, it refers to the bins located on the catwalks on either side of the vehicle, the Comet having two pannier bins. Some tanks like Chieftain had internal pannier fuel tanks under armour, the Russian tanks typically had external pannier fuel tanks. Good luck!

Hope that helps - or I can hear my offspring saying "too much detail".

My Comet is a long way off starting while I finish the Pz III. I did have the option packs delivered this week, so I've now got everything ready to go.

Best wishes

Stephen

Thank you for your reply Stephen....all is now clear.

I had been searching for a 'bustle box' in my kit and instructions, to no avail.... so I finally bit the bullet so to speak, and posed the question. I looked on the 'internet', then became confused by the reasoning, that it held ammunition. The pannier seemed like a risky area to hold ammunition.

I have reached that stage in my Comet build where the Armorpax parts are used, and came across the Bustle parts.
My Comet Build progressing well, I learned very early on that it is better to ask for advice on this Forum, and thereby void mistakes....thanks again, Stephen.
