And since Gill is looking for absolute precision,

A Mark I male with 6 pdr guns and rear steering wheels.......

and the anti-grenade cage on the roof and the commander's name is Johnstone (that's Alf Johnstone of the Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps not his cousin Fred). Battle of Flers-Courcelette, September 16th 1916.

There are pics of a 1916 Mark IV Recovery Tank. Give me a tank model: I'll scratchbuild an A-frame, and a winch.

That's it then, it all fits. Mark gets to do something he's long wanted, the Tank Museum will be very pleased, you get to do another recovery vehicle, the model is huge and impressive and sells well and, the final clincher, there's a logic to it - the Comet was probably the fastest tank in WW2 and now we'll have the slowest in WW1. Clever Gill and Mark.

Given the 3-tone camouflage cover, I would say it's a NATO AFV, a Armour Recovery Vehicle, a USA M-88(A1/A2)? :D

I think its a "Leopard"

Post by phil fitzpatrick »

I went to the Cosford air show Sunday and in the Cold War Museum there was a great example of the Leopard, and I thought if the turret was turned round and the gun was resting in its cradle for transporting it looked low enough to be whats under the sheet.

So yes its a LEOPARD (I think)

Cheers Phil

Ah, this is tricky

Nothing seems to fit-exactly

Parts look like an early t-34/76

but the turret seems not to be high enough

I think brady has a point, but the gun would be too long (I think)

But a Sd.Kfz. 234/3 (8-Rad) (7.5 cm KwK) Schwere Panzerspähwagen just might be long enough, with the bumps on top, no long gun. So that is my guess:

The Sd.Kfz. 234/3 (8-Rad) (7.5 cm KwK) Schwere Panzerspähwagen

What do we get for guessing, a copy of the new vehicle  (I should be so lucky!) 8)

Have a nice day all!

Gill said we had to be precise, so I'm going for a M1A1 Abrams, with the turret facing rearwards, main gun over the engine deck.
