Just out of curiosity, is the body of breech solid or is it hollow?

I agree, I'll file the breech block, or attempt to as this pla is a bit tricky to dress but I will have a go! I may still print another breech standing up as this would make the breech block sliding grooves more accurate, I hope?
The body of the breech is printed at 20% infill.

Another busy day, printing, painting and cabinet making, oh and wiring leds .
I really need a good photo or drawing of the clansman twin radio installation, if anyone could share I would be so grateful.

There's so much to do its unreal, working inside that turret it's like operating on a turtle, half the time your hands and fingers are in there and you just can't see what you are doing. That's why I make up sub units and fix them one at a time, should look ok when it's done though. Vince that breech is going to be awesome.
My 3d printer is working around 18hrs a day right now.
Dave I'm looking forward to receiving those parts, especially the cannon plugs so I can terminate the braided cables neatly.

In that gun cradle diagram, what's the internal diameter and length of item no.8?

If we stick with my 40.90mm abs stock pipe, the cradle tube will need to slide over that, so maybe 2mm over size to allow for shrinkage and bonding? It's so exciting! I'm almost through my first pla reel of material.
The distance from the front of the breech face to the kit barrel face is 130mm, so the cradle shouldn't be any longer than that which would need to include the big recuperation clamp and the threads and nuts associated with that

So that sleeve would be 43mm ID, about 47mm OD and 130mm long?

Sounds about right for diameter, we need to factor in the large clamp at the breech front which bolts to the recuperation cylinders, and the clearance for the threads and nuts which protrude out from the cradle, just use your excellent judgment on that! So that 130mm is the total space available.

No I don't have the clamp, it's this big bugger at the breech front, it could be made part of the cradle of printed separately? Separately would be best if we want a recoiling moving breech.

I know what you are trying to do but have no idea how you are going to do it (call me a bit thick). Also I cannot visualise the limited space this has got to fit in. So what I will try to do is try to draw the major components individually and you will assemble them together. Maybe this will give you a chance of adjusting some dimensions as you go along.

Some more components. Some I might have drawn longer so that you can adjust length. I have not drawn the cylinder rams. Best to use a metal or plasticard round bar cut to the required length.
