Well I say congrats Armortek. That's an interesting and unusual choice. I'm hoping it will lead on to other soft skins.
I think it's a fine choice and fills a gap. I hope it will be the attraction that brings more interested folks into the larger
scale military model field. I must confess a rather lean understanding of the vehicle's military service but no doubt many
stories and anecdotes regarding it will soon be in the offing....

Yes, me too. Allegedly a 1948 (?) post war type of Jeep. Predecessor to famous Land Rovers(?). Quite a surprise…..I hope it does well for them. Jerry, let me know if you want to sell your 88, as stated, I’m interested in buying one.

Tis the season to be jolly, and I think with the right marketing and build quality, awesome.
Not quite a tank but built like one.
The series 1 holds a mysterious attraction to many, done right there'll be many wanting one.
Country gents, Estate managers, Buck house might even order one to take their minds off the inlaws this Xmas.

Yes, I know it's a series 3 but it's still a good scene trying to fly a Series 1.

Waking up this morning to read that our latest announcement was "a disappointment" was ... well, a disappointment

But there is a saying - "you can't please all the people all the time" - and that is certainly true in what we do. The "Maus groupies" as an example, will always be disappointed. And the "Famo groupies" suffered in semi-silence for years before we saw sense.

The Series 1 has been on our drawing board for a long time. As Chris hinted in another post, there is a huge following, not just in the UK, but in many far flung parts of the globe. I will not go through our rational in detail here, but suffice to say that Monique and I think it is the right model at the right time. Of course we are not in-fallible in our thinking and events may prove otherwise.

I can understand that some of the disappointment may stem from the fact that we published a list of potential models a few weeks ago and the model we ended up doing was not on that list. To that, I would point out that, it is not trivial to go from a decision on what model to make to ramping up production. To expect that we can run a survey in November and start production in January is just not realistic. The process .. even for models that we have done before takes a good 3 to 4 months. For new models it takes even longer. And this was before we had all the supply chain problems that we are still facing these days.

For models we have done before, we still like to continuously improve - so every part of the 250 odd unique components need to be checked; sub assemblies and full assemblies need to be checked to ensure that the kit will go together as planned even before a single piece of swarf is produced. Where we can, design changes are implemented - including, for example, adding additional details or moving to steel wheels. We then need to look at how every part will be made - will it be cast or machined or pressed, is it milled or turned or both - 3AX or 5AX, etc. And finally - we need to order in the material and wait for delivery. For some of our older kits, the companies that made cast parts, including the tracks, no longer exist - so there is also the process to source new suppliers and deal with all their questions and issues all over again. We do not dust off old CAD drawings and get to work!

With all that said, 2023 will see a release of a model from the list that we issued earlier, but for now, we are off to celebrate the Series 1 and look forward to having an iconic off-road 4x4 car running in the spring.

I am excited about the 1950 Series 1 4x4 car. Having a non-tracked vehicle means I can enjoy it inside the house.

Well done Armortek great choice of vehicle not quite the CVRT some of us would have liked but as the saying goes my my how sad what a pity never mind.

I remember as a college lad how I lusted after what I imagine now was either a late series 2 or early series 3 'long' version (as I called them) Land Rover. I used to stop and drool whenever I saw one even though I knew little about them. Just about every one I saw was either a light blue or green color. Land
Rovers appealed to me a lot more than Jeeps did back then and still do. I imagined myself heading out in one on some adventure.

The more I think about this the more I smile and I'm thinking I might just add myself to the list to get one so I might recapture some of those old dreams...

Many thanks for announcing a new model.
I am sure a lot of people dont understand what goes into the creation of a new model like this.
I for one am always genuinely interested to see the new models that you have announced and they are all interesting and exciting in their own way. I would also like to congratulate you on making kits that some might consider 'off piste' or risky.

My expectation is that once word gets out this will be very popular but maybe not so much with existing Armortek owners.
