Busy working on the various turret systems, associated cabinets and racking for the ammunition, there are many cabinets for the electrical systems, I don't have the room in there or the time to make and add them all, so I'm picking the most prominent for extra attention and grouping the others together where they are not so visible, concentrating on those in full view with more detail and where I can illuminating with leds.

Phil, I am not like you. I cannot picture these things unless I have sizes to work with.

I cobbled up this storage space for the short sabot because I saw what you are doing and I know the dimensions of the sabot but have absolutely no idea if it's too large or too small to fit where you want it. You know where something like this will fit but I don't and that's the problem.

Phil, Vince, impressive details really add to the model. Great stuff.

One small point, you would not have seen APDS (or DS/T) in the turret at the same time as Fin projectiles. The stowage was incompatible. The "Improved Kinetic Round" upgrade programme ran in conjunction with the introduction of IFCS in the early eighties and created a series of Marks with the suffix /7 as in Mk 7/4, which was an upgraded Mk 5.

Also, to make it easier to describe the two different rounds, the smaller proj was referred to as "Sabot" and the big pointy one as "Fin", for obvious reasons.

Thank you Stephen, we will stick with the sabot and hesh rnds then. Vince if you tighten up the distance between the rounds then that would be fine!
What do you think about the small double sabot rnd holders, there the ones that sit around the turret ring, again they simply hold 4 rnds in pairs this time vertically but are like open crates? I can give you basic w/d/h dimensions if that helps but I'm only guessing?
None of these examples need to be very accurate as the model turret interior is way smaller than the real thing!

I don't mind doing something like that (keeps me away from binge watching Japanese anime) but I need to have more information.

By saying

if you tighten up the distance between the rounds then that would be fine!

is not enough for me. If you say that it has to have a particular width, height and depth than that is giving me most of the info that I would require to avoid redoing the same part many times. A simple pencil drawing with some numbers is all that would be required.

Phil, stowage of ammunition was the preserve of the loader, who practised a black art to get it all in. There were standard bomb loads and diagrammes to follow but a good loader would probably freestyle it to suit the operation and his preferences. Here are the three standard loads for the Mk 5. As you can see, the turret proj racks would have a mix of HESH and APDS (or in training, SH/P and DS/T), which would allow you to show off all of Vince's designs. Trust this is helpful.

Stephen that's just what we need! Vince I will get you those dimensions tomorrow morning as I have now started to cook my dinner and have nearly finished my first glass of red! It's the only way I can wind down you know lol

Here's the first one. I did not do the thin bar at the front as I thought it would be easier for you to use plasticard. I don't know if it will 3d print ok with those huge cutouts on the side. If it does not print properly, I guess another option would be to redo it without the cutouts and cut them out yourself. Will be sending the stl via email.
