The bolt is 2.5x6mm I don't think you could get much smaller that will bolt through the sprocket unfortunately.
However I'm still looking

I've seen 2.5mm bolts as short as 3mm (2.5x3).
One can grind the head of the bolt to make it low profile but I would still worry that the track horns might still hit them.
Or one can counterbore to hide the head of the bolt although it's easier said than done.

I like the counterbore idea it will require the head of the bolt to be almost flush with the back of the sprocket, certainly something to look into.

Hi All

So time to start building the hull
Unfortunately hoping to use the new movable bench
To start work on then the misses decides she wants to get fit and use her rollers just where I need to work
So will have to carry on with using my workshop bench for the moment..
Probably part of the build most concerned about.
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere

Thanks for the continued support, basically I have dry fitted everything to make sure it fits.
So by next weekend I should be good to go on the paint front.
I just need to make a few adjustments to my workshop for painting.
Upol degreaser, 6x upol etch primer grey 4x red halfords primer 6 x ral dunkelgelb so should have enough for painting the tank for finalfinishing, tank will then go to my painter.

Hi All

Hopefully everyone had a cracking Christmas and New year.
So finished loctiting suspension arm's unfortunately one of them didn't take moved when I tested it...
I left it 5 days for loctite to go off, unfortunately it's knackered the thread in the suspension arm and torsion bar holder
I have ordered a tap and die set to see if I can recover it..
Masking up for painting just trying etch primer on a piece of scrap aluminium.

Hi Gary,

Looks like you're making good progress. Not wishing to teach you how to suck eggs (!) but don't forget to thoroughly degrease everything prior to priming - even etch primer won't fight its way through fingerprints, etc! And if you can abrade the surface first that will give an even better bond. On my JP, I sand or glass bead blasted all parts before painting and, as an extra precaution, gave everything a good wipe down or swill off with acetone. Amazingly, here in France one can buy acetone off the shelf in all supermarkets!!
