Re: Phils Famo build
Hi Brian, it's only us awkward devils like myself and Florian that want to do something different like add a dummy engine and the tool lockers full of tools, if it's ok with the boss i will take a photo from the motion instructions file and post it here? You can then see the "out of the box" suggested positions of all the modules, batteries and the speaker, there is plenty of room in that cavernous engine bay!

Re: Phils Famo build
Since all the armortek supplied components will fit into the engine bay the only real question is what the dimensions are of the tool chest for the batteries since the batteries have to be sourced elsewhere. I know that doesn’t matter to you since you are putting tools there. That will be a nice modification for sure!

Re: Phils Famo build
Hi Phil,
So the space under the front seat, maybe enough for the motion control Unit. Its about 27mm x 250mm. I have own speed controlers and other electronic stuff to put Info.
The Tear seat space is about 45mm x 405mm.
Looking forward to see a good solution
Regards Florian

Re: Phils Famo build
As promised, this is just a single page from the comprehensive motion, sound and smoke manual. The very nice servo actuator for the steering can clearly be seen.

Re: Phils Famo build
I think the units are verry big. So I have another solution for that. I think about speed controler about the half size. Smoke unit is only a smal cirquit board (benedini), as well as the sound. so this I take under the front seat.
Problem is the box for the speaker. Maybe you'll see it in front of the engnine dummy. Perhaps I take this box under the rear seat...
Regards
Florian

Re: Phils Famo build
I think it's worth mentioning. We must first consider the average builder who wants to build straight from the box, so just to reassure everyone out there, the Famo kit as with all Armortek kits go together exactly as the build manual states.
Those of us hardened builders don't want it to easy and often want a unique example which will stand out from the crowd, so enjoy what we post but follow that manual and enjoy that build!
I'm in the tank shop today nursing by broken rib the heating is set to high as I shall be painting the top coat on the chassis and wheels ready for a bonding session tomorrow , photos to follow.
In the mean time take a look at £256 quids worth of beautiful tow bars, not really correct for a Demag Bergepanther "A" but will get used for this and the Famo, they also come with full instructions and diagrams of how they are configured for use with many of the towing scenarios.
regards Phil.

Re: Phils Famo build
Hats right Phil,
the most AT builders want it simple to install a good and easy construktion.
Later my FAMO would be more detailed than the kit like build. Thats make it important to think about diffrent construktion to the kit.
Regards
Florian
P.S.: the most builders should make it the way in the manual.

Re: Phils Famo build
Good morning Phil,
looks great your chassis. I thought also about the rubber tires, why they are so loose... Your idea wiht the cable ties is great, I'll do it the same way.
Regards
Florian

Re: Phils Famo build
Hi Florian, if you are using the Loctite 480 make sure you have a dress rehearsal and get everything ready, that 480 could catch you out. use too much and it contaminates everything with black goo, to little and it won't do the job, just enough ie a 4mm bead all the way around the wheel, then place the tyre on with the logo facing the way you want it (logo on one side only) rotate the tyre against the wheel for an even coverage of 480, then centre, then fix the cable ties and pull tight and check for alignment again before it cures..... depending on the adhesives contact area about 20 seconds , longer if theres a gap!
If your a newbie then I might suggest epoxy as it is more forgiving and theres more time to get it right....Phil.

Re: Phils Famo build
Hi David, because I have run out of pink!
…………...It's a good base as you will see later and for now that was the overall colour as they came from the factory ish! For now it's a new vehicle but that could change depending whether I sell it before it gets weathered or not..
Regards Phil.
