Hi All,

I have been waiting for Gill to give me the green light before I started posting photos of the engine build.

Ivano has made a great kit here and I am really enjoy the build. I unpacked the parts leaving them in their individual bags. there are no instructions, only photos in folders which are numbered 1 - 10.

1 Corpo centrale MDF

It is basically just an MDF frame that slots together like a jigsaw. The only thing I have done extra was to fill the gaps with car body filler, I noticed looking through the photos, you could see the frame joints. I didn't like that, so the filler covers this up.

Bag no 2 Fianco SX

Attaching the the resin parts to the side.

I used Loctite 60 sec all purpose glue to stick the resin parts to the MDF. I have had good results with this glue before, and it gives you chance to position the part before it sets.

The addition of the brass frame is in Ivano's photos but there wasn't any brass parts in the kit but it's easy to get hold of.

Hi all,

This is pack 3 Fianco DX, take your time with this side, I made a couple of mistakes that I was lucky to be able to put right. I will point them out when I get to them.

Anyone notice the mistake?

I put the fuel filters on up side down, luckily I hadn't glued them in place. The photos were not really clear, but after contacting Ivano and he sent some better photos, I realized the mistake. Make sure the fuel filters fit together with the oil filter above before you glue it, as it is all very tightly packed together.

Here are the fuel filters with their clear resin inspection glass. threading and bending the wire is a challenge, be careful not to snap the button off the bottom.

Having made several of these engines from scratch I can appreciate the work that has gone into its production, the detail is impressive, looking forward to seeing the finished engine. The painting is going to be challenging Paul but im sure you can pull it off, nice work! cheers Phil.

Just been catching up on your latest updates. Very impressive work on the engine looking forward to seeing it painted, would it be possible to put a steel ruler alongside the engine components to get a better idea of the scale of detail on show.

Hi Phil, it would be nice to see your engines sometime, or I'm right in think I have seen you use an engine in your dioramas?

Hi David, yes I will take some photos today and put a ruler next to the engine. I did think ahead to the painting stage (which makes a change for me! ) and I haven't glued everything in place. I am also still working on the inlet manifold, carbs and filter covers. which is why the photo updates are slow.

Hi All,

Here is pack 6 Testate: The rocker covers, not much to say about these, I have put all the bolts in but I have not fixed the caps on until I have painted the engine. I also won't be fitting the rocker covers until I have finished building the rest of the fuel inlet and exhaust manifold details.

Also as requested I have taken some photos with a ruler in view. hope that helps.

Nice fiddly work Paul, I don't have any of my engines in stock at present, but I would recommend plumbing in a smoker (in 6mm id copper pipe) inlet/outlet into the block then into the heads and out the exhaust headers, it makes for a very realistic smoke effect as you can run the engine (simulation) out of the engine bay on a rig. .....Phil.
