I hope everyone enjoys looking at them :D

They are public domain so feel free to borrow what you want

Just hope that I can make the Arnhem tour next year. Several veterans on the last tour said that it was excellent.

Good to see you back on air so to speak. I hope you are fully recovered or at least still taking the tablets!

A really fine series of photographs, I have enjoyed them and appreciated the grim story they have told immensely. A pity about the rainy weather sometimes but at least you weren’t bivouacked in a trench.

I will look forward to your Arnhem tour report next year. Just for interest because the quality is so good, what sort of camera have you used? Not forgetting the skill of the operator for a moment.

Best
Paul

Hi Paul I am on tablets for everything these days

Its the MRI scan and xrays that I am dreading but thats another tale.

The Camera is a cheapie from Jessops, about three years old now. It was bought to photograph womens things for wifeys sisters eBay site. But she paassed on nearly 12 months ago so I have messed around with it on the two trips and still use it on evilbay

Its a Nikon Coolpix L3. Very basic but it works. I have to be careful as a sneeze or jar and the photo is blured  I try and rest it up against a tree or other solid object so I get a decent picture. All good fun.

I am looking forward to the Arnhem trip and would love to do several others as well.

Hi Stewart,

Thank you for the photography information. It is good to see such good results without the need for vastly expensive equipment.

Keeping steady is the secret, I have a cheapie mono pod I try to have with me most of the time.

Re MRI, pm sent.

Best Paul

Hi Stewart,

Since I usually look only at build threads and don't visit the "events" section too much, I just discovered your Normandy thread a month or so ago and wanted to say thank you for posting such great photos of the Normandy area. For those of us who have not been able to make the trip yet, your pictures and comments are just super.

Thanks for sharing and I wish you all the best.

Kind regards
Tim

Hi Tim, a great trip and to see everything would take weeks not just a few days.

I am looking forward to the Arnhem tour and then if time permits Monte Casino. Dad very rarely talked about the war but one of the things he did mention was being in the town when the allies bombed it and they all had to run like the devil to the sheltered part of the railway station. They were not amused
