Painting all day, as some of you talented guys may have a bit of time on your hands, would anyone like to make up some 120 mm hesh rounds please, they could be turned in metal or made of resin, they do not need to be perfect replicas as they will only be seen when you look through the hatches? I've just sold my big lathe so I'm a bit stuck right now! I'm looking at the sealey small lathe for around £1700 new, are they any good?

Cant find anything at all for the metadyne compartment but as that cover is bolted down I guess it's less of an issue.

Looking superb now Phil. The tank filler (8) was for the crew drinking water tank, which from memory was in unpainted metal. The tank provided water to a small brass tap, conveniently near the BV. Unfortunately, the tap was useless and you had to keep checking it or you got water dripping onto the charge bins. If water got into them, you got a wet bag charge, which could cause problems.

Thanks guys, there's a long ways to go yet! Boy I need a hair cut to lol. That pic of the radio batteries compartment is just what I need Kevin! I recognize those dirty great big lead acid batteries now, I think they may have been 200 amp hours a piece. Stephen I will also add the water containers now I know where and what they are. What's a HESH round? I guess some sort of tank ammo.

Ah Vince, high explosive squash head. It's the simplest shape to make. If I ask Stephen nicely he's the guy who would know the dimensions!

So it's the top part of a shell without the brass casing. They don't look too difficult. I have to see a diagram with dimensions to see if I have material. Due to the current situation, my metal supplier is closed as he does not provide an essential service.

Phil, I'll see what I can do but I'll give you a clue about one dimension. The diameter is 120mm........ not including the driving band.

You should be able to extrapolate the lengths and other dimensions from knowing the diameter is more or less 120mm.

The WP smoke proj was the same size as SH/P or HESH.

Not that you'll need it but you might like to see what the APDS central core looked like. This is mine, found after a day of searching on the range in Canada. It's solid tungsten carbide, with a density of 15.3 gm/cm3, twice that of steel.

If you can make these I would be so grateful Vince and I'm sure the boss would be very happy to cross your palm with paypal!
Thank you Stephen once again you step up to the mark! Love the tracer detail in the hesh rnd. I had a sabot dart for a while and that was heavy to. The chieftain used a two part rnd which did not require a case, the projectile was rammed into the breech then a charge bag, the breech was closed and an igniter completed the unit, much the same as an artillery piece is loaded, the size of the charge bags can be selected to give the desired range and speed of the projectile .

Phil, those three, when scaled down will look the same except for the colour.

Yep, I can then paint accordingly unless you want to, the driving band ( the copper gasket) nr the base can be a groove cut if you like,
The Driving band can then be added later unless you don't mind the extra machining?
