I've been a bit distracted by the arrival of some workshop equipment, which I've now got to get to grips with. I have a very understanding wife.....





Nevertheless, I've done a trial installation of two additional speakers, 5" from Maplin. All three worked well but I'll have to consider if there is really room for them in speaker boxes once I can see if the turret elevation motor is likely to cause a foul.

Man thats a tight fit really.
And i would do a speakerbox for better sound quality but thats seems out of the question in that one .
As you get better resonances in a sealed compartment, thus better base and breathe of the speaker.

But i love the build. AND THE NEW TOOLS!!!!!
My girly would never ever let me but thoose. Unless i started a firm of my own or something .

I have the same proble with the elevation motor sticking down into the tank hull. Have you considered modifying it so it is sticking up back into the turret?

Allan - I was looking ahead. I'm way off assembling the turret but just looking at the CAD drawings in the Armortek instructions suggests there may be a conflict. It's one of the things on my long list of future issues.

Stephen,

You might consider not using the motor unit supplied and just youing a heavy duty servo and simple linkage. You can get some good ball joints no so there is no slack in the system. There is nothing worse than one of these model rumbling along with the gun wobbling up and down, but Vince used a servo system on his Tiger.

I'm at that stage were I need to figure where to put all of the electronices.I looked at putting the fuse box all the way back,like in your model.But the top plate hits the fuse box.The fuse box is too tall for back there.And if I have the batteries way back,and the fuse box on there side,The turret will have to point to the side,to get hatch open.
My question is does your tank have these problems too? Thank you from Dan.

Dan - I'm in Australia for the next couple of weeks so can't photo for you but it was OK when I did a trial fit with the side plates. If necessary, you could move the batteries further to the rear and put the control unit in front of them either on its side or standing up. Regards. Stephen

Thanks Anthony for posting the info,i have cut my access door and the Panzer has seen light of day for the first time,had a run about 4 meters and then stoped,checked the voltage and i was down to 18v??? i had charged the batteries a couple of weeks ago and presumed i would be fine for a short test run,there is a draw on the power even when everthing is off,anyone had this problem??
Tomorrow Easter Sunday ,i will have a good run and take a few photos for Dale to post for me next week

Can't keep up with the KT speed builders but .......

Just returned from a three week trip to Aus - managed to call Dale and talk tanks. With brain in jet lag mode, I finished the last of the suspension arms which will mean I can move on with the hull detailing.

One task sucessfully accomplished today was fitting the Benedini rotary encoder to my transmitter. I've to thank Mick Regan for his solution, which worked first time and wasn't too difficult. Results in a rotary switch to allow selection of sounds and a spring loaded togle switch to activate the chosen sound.
