Hi All,
In a lot of cases on the Carrier I'm having to stay away from our usual plasticard parts as we are keen to go straight to metal moulds with as many of the parts as we can. This means some parts that would normally be quite quick and easy are having in effect to be sculpted, hammered and bashed

Multiples like the Deep wading mountings will go on the first mould and then we will run enough for to add to the second so we run either a half or whole set each time we spin. I'm now waiting for these to set so I can make the rest of the visor cover setup.
Best regards
Dave

Hi All,
Carrier vison port cover finished. I've made these so they use the two existing bolts above the vision port and they are assembled assembled in the open position. This was the only way I could easily incorporate them into the kit parts. It can be assembled as left or right hand version to suit ports. Also made a new Rifle Butt shoe for the rear engine cover.
Received my Boys ATR and PIAT in the post today. Think I will probably be going with the Scout version and Boys but got the PIAT just in case.
Best regards
Dave

Hi All,
First metal mould made and been casting all the multiples today along with parts for my own build. I think once the next mould is done we will have enough parts to at least get an initial detail pack out. As I need to maximise mould usage I think the metal parts to date all need to be a single set and are common to most variants anyway. I am pretty sure I am heading towards a basic detail pack with the metal parts, Radiator casting etc. then individual sets such as seats, radio, batteries, Rifles and ammo bags so people can customise to suit their builds and variant. I am not making a decision yet on whether to drop the cost of dedicated mould to do the deep wading pads etc. as not sure how popular these will be.
Best regards
Dave

Hi John,
Sending a few more parts off this week to get a second mould made then going to release what we have. There will still be more to follow but a lot of the parts you really need to add while building are done.
Best regards
Dave

Hi All,
UC Steering Linkages. These have been simplified to make them quicker to make and easier to cast but should still create a reasonable representation of the steering set up. Parts work for both left and right hand. Using a short length of aluminium tube and brass wire it will be easy to add the longer link rods.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi Dave
Simply stunning parts I love the vision port shutters and stearing gear.
As I mentioned I want the full set including seats, radio, batteries, Rifles and ammo bags as well as
all the mental parts.
I am not however interested in the deep wading pads though.
Hope this helps
Regards
Derek

Hi Derek,
Many thanks, if enough people want the pads I'll make an extra mould but if like yourself its not going to be something everyone wants I'll do them the hard way a couple at a time
Cheers
Dave

Hello Dave
I live in Switzerland and would also like to buy these ingenious parts from them for my UC.
How do I have to proceed so that they send me a set of these parts?
Best regards
Markus Beer

Hi All,
Last bit of the day, time for a glass of Red and some dinner. Bracket and support for the A set antenna base. This with the other parts is on its way to have the 2nd metal mould made.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi All,
Lot of making this weekend and eyes are tired tonight so nothing spectacular. Just replaced the front 8BA nuts with 1 size smaller and ground the excess thread off. Also added a few more of the missing joint fixings. Holes drilled into engine covers and new lift off handles fitted. I have captivated the nuts inside with Quiksteel so I can just slacken the cap screws to remove the covers. The Cap screws actually look pretty close to the original thumb wheels so haven't changed these.
Best regards
Dave

That's one tidy looking UC mk2 Dave.

Are you considering selling a detail kit, piece meal kit ? I never expected so much stuff to be possibly supplied
And.... after viewing the running UC, what sort of precautions do you think we'd have to take holding stuff, including the poor 1/6 chaps teeth in place
