That is a great looking chassis. The tracks are fantastic. I like how you painted the motors, they blend right in with the rest. Very cool.

It's just falling together! Thanks Bob, Florian i'm not onto the body yet but you are! Well I wont get much done to day as the Quad is off to it's new owner and another Panther is coming back with me, this will be one of my towed vehicles for the Famo and Bergepanther, video to follow soon.
Reference bonding, Kian is quite right that loctite 480 is just the business and very or relatively expensive but "fix and forget" . I have done refurbs and had to remove the old tyres that have been bonded with that, and it really does tear the rubber rather than come apart. I have used this on the Famo track link rubber blocks.
Regards Phil.

Much work to do Phil.
Yes the 480 is awesome for rubber. I used it on my 251 and StuG. Can't get it off.
Only one thing. clean the alu tire careful, and don't paint it before using 480.

No as they are nice and tight dry, I wont bond unless I feel they really need it, and the rims are hammer on with a rubber mallet, well they are if you prime the metal parts first! Also I may need to photograph the Famo with a tyre off at some point! regards Phil.

Re: Phils Famo build
Morning Florian, Armortek suggest that two 15 amph gel acid batteries can be installed in the tool lockers behind the crew seating, and looking at the motion pack instructions if you are not worried about filling the tool lockers with tools it's the best and only place for them. I may have a wooden crate in the load area with the batteries hidden in side that, you could then use a plug and socket to isolate and maybe change out low batteries this way, I could then detail the lockers with trays and tools.

Re: Phils Famo build
Good morning Phil,
I also thought about putting a box on the platform where the battery is. I used LiFePo batteries. I want to put tools in the toolboxes on one side and place my switches and fuses on the other. Also, I will use the space under the seats for electronics.

Re: Phils Famo build
Ah the grey primed engine head with cam shaft and valves, that was just a tease! Let me build an engine first and we will see what's involved, I guess about 1/3rd of the crank case (maybe more) will not exist as the engine must be built around the two electric motors. the engine would be built from plasticard with a fan driven from a 24v motor with a reduction gearbox.
Just how much room is there under those seats Florian, as I have not got that far yet so I have no idea, will the speed controller fit in there ok? will the sound module also fit?
I have just received my tow bars from Mr Leroux , they are for the Famo or Bergepanther, which ever is towing at the time, they are magnificent!

Re: Phils Famo build
So is everything supposed to go in the bed other than the motors and batteries? Man I think Armortek needs to shrink the controllers down this is going to be really tough to fit the giant boxes in there. I didn’t think about it. What did the old sdkfz7 do?
Where do the speakers go?
I like the idea of hiding things in crates. Good thing it has a canvas top too.

Re: Phils Famo build
To clear things up a bit - we have designed the kit so that:
- Batteries fit in the tool boxes in the cargo area. The lids of these can be removed to take the batteries out if needed
- Speed controller, smoke, audio module and speaker all fit under the bonnet.
The cargo area is left empty and there is a clear gap between the chassis and the cargo bay like in the original with no electronics to spoil the view.
Of course this is only our recommended setup.
