Thanks Robert, but the real early innovators are Marcus, Ian Rodney and Dave Dibb, I started building my 25 pounder 4 or 5 years after the release and have avoided some of the early pitfalls,thanks to them, and have to admit I have used some of their great ideas, I have also put my own interpretations on the kit, this is why we can all benefit by sharing our build experiences on the forum

Hi I have tried out the blank firing of the 25 pounder, works ok, short clip with the sound turned down,

made a start on the sighting gear, most of the main elements are made, this is what I achieved in 2 days regards Jeff

the kit comes with a solid alloy telescope case that fits to brackets inside the shield, just for fun I thought I would bore this out and see what size the sighting telescope would be, as the photos show it is a tad small, I use the 1/6th figure to show scale, the last picture shows the diameter the new sighting scope regards Jeff

made the sighting scope and storage container, this looks closer to scale, retaining clips to be added to the container, also made and fitted the telescope holder to the sighting gear. regards Jeff

You have been busy!
The Armortek case is much to small, possibly patterned on the smaller No.29 sighting scope. The No.29 actually needed a spacer tube to fit into the sight clamp. The case for the no.29 scope however did not have the wider section at the lid, the scope did not have any protruding knobs or dials.

The no.41 scope however had 3 knobs/dials and had its case widened to accommodate these. The cap above that widened section also had a larger diameter than the remaining storage tube. Couldn't find my measurements of the actual thing.......
I used a rubber bicycle brake-cable bellows to make the eyepiece.

Oeps, I meant No.22 scope, that one is without dials! The No. 29 scope does have a knurled dial/knob on the top, and the No.41 has three.
I work too hard, I definitely have to start building again......

thanks for all the info Marcus, I am sure we could all go raving mad trying to achieve perfection, I try and make the details look acceptable and in scale rather than having every nut bolt and rivet correct, not sure about the rubber bellows, what diameter are they, the ones I made scale up to 45mm this looks about right.
today I made the quadrant dial and pointer for the elevation, regards Jeff

I have to agree with that...... My curse is: I travel a lot and so have too much time to ponder over details
When I am finally building, common sense normally kicks in (I do get carried away sometimes(....) ).
That video is fun! Have you tried it with the lights out: is there some kind of flash visible?

A bit more completed on the sighting gear, made the sliding scale for the ranging cone, remade the quadrant scale for the elevation, the arc now runs true with the pointer, just the bracket for the iron sight to make then clean up the metalwork before painting

sighting gear almost complete, just a few tweaks and cleaned before painting, parallel motion link is just resting on the brackets, as the sight operating arm needs some work, this is how far I got today, it might be a week or so before any updates, as I have a couple of projects to finish
