Phil & John - Thanks. Zimmerit not perfect but I have seen so many pictures of zimmerit now that there is no perfect one way, therefore it must be right Hinging the deck makes it easier to work on and means one less part lying around being possibly damaged or parts falling off being lost.

Nick - The painting of one's tank really brings it to life as was the case with your P4. My no zimmerit policy was for the P4 as it was all new to me. Then with the straight planes on the tiger I thought it would be easier to do, which it was. I still wont zimmerit the P4 as my ultimate goal is to have that as the brueckenlerger. Don't be afraid to zimmerit your P4, it's not really that scary, trust me

Good thinking! In addition: When the turret rotation motor is mounted, it sticks down quite a bit, making it still more difficult to find a suitable place to put the deck! It would rest on the motor's electrical terminals or stand on the side leaning against something. Unless you want to put it flat with details down... All ranging from a bad idea to still worse. Your solution works around all that - brilliant!

Just a question on your zimmerit. What compound are you using?
I tried a multi-purpose joint compound which looks similar to what you 'may' have used but I found it dried with a rough texture. Yours looks great in the photos, I'd like to try it out and compare to milliput.

I used a tile adhesive powder & made it into a thick paste so it didn't run & used Mike Stannards zimmeritt tools.

Looking good Raymond. How long the Zimm take?

G'day Bob. It didn't take long. About 1 hour on 1 side. 1/2 hr front. Being a paste it was applied with ice-cream stick and raked with zimm tool quite easily. There are some minor imperfections but overall the results good.

i would say "especially" the real ones. I believe they toshed that stuff on in the armoured workshops without much thought of how it looks

Did it dry rock hard or can you still mark it if you
were to press into it with your finger nail?
