Sunday evening is Tank evening, trial fitted the infa-red scope storage box that steve winstone made for me. Primer and Paint required and I also fitted the four stand off mountings as seen in some photos.

Thanks

Simon

This is a superb build.
I think that the subject (Panther rebuilt from available components) lends itself perfectly to the method used to build the kit. ie each part finished and weathered before attaching to the hull.
Looking forward to further installments.
Steve.

Hi Simon

The paint on the storage box looks great the way it is faded and weathered.

Simon,
I like the thought of having a dedicated tank time in the evening! Panther is looking great, the rear IR bin is a marvel. Awesome job with weathering!

the snow came down so i stayed in and worked on the panther, thanks for taking the time to comment, i think as i paint the tank it will loose that brightness of the red, and some more dirt and dust will help, many thanks simon.

Hi Simon,

I think you are a real artist. I have just seen the turret number on the spare tracks. Phantastic!!

Hi Simon,

Impressing skills in painting there!
And I just love the level of detailing, well done.

Regarding the paint scheme I admit it look interesting however I doubt it ever existed
Today it is an on going debate about the resent Panzer paint fashion in red oxide, heavy weathered late in war Panzers (the Spanish school).
Sadly I am on the doubting side in this as no photo exists to verify but I still admire and find a well build Panther interesting.

Keep the photos coming
Kind regards
Kent

a bit more weathering on the panther due to the weather outside! theres only three side skirts used on this build to paint, that means the tracks will be on show, i'l have a good look at tims tiger tracks he painted, they look good. regards simon.

the first small zimmerit job completed on the winstone stowage box, no i did'nt enjoy the dreaded paste, full respect to paul morris and others who are good at this tecnique, could'nt bring myself to denting the box either, the only battle hardened panther with no dents, regards simon.

Hi Simon,

Nice work with the IR box (and Steve) and I can see your becoming quite handy with the airbrush - lovely paintwork.

A small detail on the IR box; as this was an armoured box compared to the standard Panther box, it was heavy and in most photos I´ve seen the Germans added a hook probably to be able to lift it when mounting it, see here;
