I miss the Tank work. I am just finishing another fence project right now and waiting for some good conditions to paint and maybe make another video.

Cool, did you spray the paint directly on or did you use any primer?

I did not use any primer. Just gave it two generous coats of paint.

That looks great! Like something you'd see in the factory.
Normally, I would have suggested a primer first on metal. Did you wipe the metal surfaces first with a denatured alcohol? The paints nowadays seem to hold up better, so you're probably fine.
cheers... Tom

He did use primer on the Metal I think. I was just asking if he put primer on the tile adhesive.

Tom
The metal under the tile adhesive was etch primed and also coated with red primer. I did not use any primer on the tile adhesive before painting it.

Hi Vince,
Very nice work on the zimmerit I have been watching this with great interest particularly as I will be applying it to my Panther A although that is a few years away at the rate that I am building my tiger.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Thanks David.
I have not invested in a hydraulic lift table. So today I had to plan how to proceed with the build. The hull is finished with all it's bits and pieces so the plan is to put the hull on the floor and clear the table so that I can do the bench test of the electronics and start work on the hull roof. But before I remove the tank from the table I thought that it would be a good idea to install the tracks and remove the excess track links.
So I put on the tracks and to simulate the weight of the batteries (still don't have them) I put my 5" milling vice on the tray table.
I adjusted the idler tension to it's minimum and removed the extra track links. I now have 93 track links on each side.
Most probably as the weight increases the tracks will get loose again. When that happens than I will remove a track link or increase the tension with the idler.
Before I put the hull on the floor I have to remove the tracks again as it is too heavy to handle with the weight of the tracks.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Vince,
I kind of thought you had primed the metal -- sorry to sound so dumb on you guys.
Brian has a great lift table that incorporates a motorcycle jack very eloquently. I purchased the same type of jack and it works great. I need only drive the tank up onto a thin sheet of plywood to gain the height required to slide the jack underneath.
Batteries: I recommend (2) 12v 22 Ah (or greater) Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries along with a 24v, 5-10 amp charger. I added a charging plug beneath the right rear-most grill, making very easy to plug in.
Also, I placed the start switch directly beneath the left rear-most grill. The start switch and charging plug are the most frequently accessed components.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
BTW,
I wound up with 91 tracks on each side. They would slip off the sprockets otherwise.
When not running, I relax the track tension. I fabricated a spring-loaded screw device that holds the cover over the track tensioner. So, I need only pull the cover outward and turn sideways to access the tensioner bolt head.

Bonjour Jeanpaul et Merci pour votre commentaire.
To answer your question have a look at page 8 of this build log.

The paint is mixed for me at the paint shop using colour RAL 1020. I am glad you like it. It may not be an exact match but I am happy with it.

Re: Vince's Tiger 1 late variant 2017
Yesterday with the help of my wife, I removed the hull from the table and is now on the floor with the tracks installed. Today I cleared and cleaned the table and with some trepidation made a start of assembling the electronics on the table.
First I want to hook up the motion control module and the audio module enough to run the two drive motors. I first removed the cover of the motion control module as I wanted to check the position of the DIP switches.
As can be seen in the photo, the position of DIP switch no.1 is not in the default position. I am using the Spektrum DX8. Should I select this switch to the ON position (default position)?
So I continued with the wiring but hit another snag. I seem to be missing one of the 3 wire ribbon cables. The Motion Control Module came with two of these cables already plugged in although the photo in the manual shows three. I tried to search for it in the box that had all the option packs to no avail. Guess I have to source this cable from somewhere unless I am doing something wrong.
