2025 ARMORTEK KIT SURVEY

Over the last few years we have brought out a whole series of kits as a direct result of your feedback - kits like the Pershing, JagdPanther, Hetzer, Leopard 2A4, and more recently the Sd Kfz 7, 88mm Flak 36 and the upcoming Challenger 2.

So, in keeping with what has become and annual tradition, here is your opportunity to once again influence our future production plans.

We have added in some "guide pricing" next to the names of the models. This is a rough estimate of the price at the current rates.

Thanks in advance for your input and we look forward to the results.

Don't forget to take the third step off the drive housings, or it'll make a mess of your sprockets.
Adrian.
Hi Adrian,
What is the "third step" to be taken off? Thanks in advance.

Nice mod I could never understand why Mark made them so chunky, I'm short of two of the inner 4mm torsion bar axle mounts as I used them for the Faun front stub axles like a dick!

This step Chang, see photo.

These really old Tigers have three steps in the drive casings, where the smaller one can rub against the Sprocket, depending on how the tank was put together.

Whereas the new models only have two steps, so there is no issue with the sprocket rubbing.

The old range target is taking shape, these very early kits do present their own unique problems but we overcome, I must stress again that the new kits are a breeze to build in comparison.
I know some find this type of build thread boring but you don't have to follow but saying that you are reading it right now

After trying to find an engineering company to machine the old sprockets to no avail, I decide to dig out my lathe faceplate and have ago at the taper lock machining my self. The photo shows the first attempt to mount the early sprockets, this soon failed, I've seen the key steel sheared in half but more likely the cast aluminum key way would deform and become sloppy.

I did find this machined taper lock insert which I could have used, you simply bore a parallel hole and fix in place.

All went well despite a few tiny voids in the casting, drilling the half threads used for clamping the taper lock was tricky not having a mill right now but it's working just great. Warco have new milling machines coming in soon so I have ordered a gearhead machine.

Doesn't matter how many of the early/mid Tiger1 I build I'm still impressed with that road wheel configuration!
Anyone know when Armortek are back from vacation, I need to order the idler shafts?

The future? This was posted 11yrs ago! Take note of the 3 PPP's technology, why use one 120mm rnd that may miss or pass right through the target when four proximity 40mm fuse rnds wont! 8)

Taking on a soft-skinned VW Camper at 600m is also possible with a British Longbow and about as useful. Now, if they were actually showing penetration of the NATO triple array at say 2000m, I might be impressed. Nice recce vehicle and probably quite useful against helos but for big boys’ jobs, you probably need………. a tank.

The reason I have decided to make my own idler mounts........ I can then turn them to the exact size required to fit each side, this being an older kit with a big mix of parts is going to need some bespoke work.

It turns out that there was only .75mm difference between the right and left idler positions but it needs to be as close as I can get.

More progress with the ol girl. I've been setting out the motion pack which is a mix of Armortek and my own blend.
Before I commit to a big parts order which Variant should I go for, the bergetiger or the bergepanzer ?
The bergepanzer would require a bespoke heavy duty 40 ton winch which is no problem rather like the Bergepanther and a bespoke winch house?

There's been a row about the BergePanzer on Facebook recently.

The general consensus was that it was a one off made by s.Pz.Abt 508 to load the 500kg payloads into Borgward remote demolition tanks, and to recover them if they got stuck.
