Good morning everyone, my wife and I received our vaccinations yesterday. The 'centre' we attended was so well organised. In and out within half an hour. Guided by helpers and checked every step of the way. Army lads in attendance checking masks....you there, stand still, your mask is on up side down madam Nothing like my TAB T and I do not get forty eight hours excused duties.
I can now concentrate on my StuG. Motion packs arrived, some careful planning here, lots to fit in a tight area. Turned her ladyship over and bounced her up and down to check suspension....excellent results. A most most enjoyable build....Mick

Good morning lads and lasses, to be fair, it's a dam fine morning....weather wise, just popped out to post an important letter, other than that we'm at 'ome, born and bred in the Midlands...
Steady progress on the StuG front, taking shape now, really like this model . I have ordered the 'fuel drum' to site on the rear deck, looks to be an excellent addition.
I will construct the centre section next, and then.....play with the motion pack, I think this is one of the most inspiring parts of the build. When you fire up the engine and then all the sounds, the build becomes alive and you know you are in business....have a nice day and keep safe....Mick

The fueldrum sounds like a nice addition, do you have a picture or link to it? I made a couple of jerrycans to sit on the engine deck. I have to see how that turns out.

Certainly does look good Mick, I bench tested the Chieftain sound electronics last summer. Seems such a long time ago.
Bringing the tanks to life is one of the wonderful hi lights and the smoker, (sorry gretta ) the icing on the cake.

Hi Mick, if you are planning to fit a fuel drum to the rear then you are probably going to have to relocate one or both of the spare wheel holders already fitted to the engine covers.

Do you have an example photo of what it will look like?

Good morning Tim, I like this photograph showing a fuel drum. I have seen some photo's with jerry cans and a large fuel drum, on the rear deck of the StuG....I jumped for joy when I opened Mark's post and saw Liam's latest addition. I had already looked at the possibility of using an old 'baked bean' can....naw
Spent some time fitting the fighting compartment together...it's a fair old weight, do not need a hernia at my time of life...Mick

I have the same question about the gas drums and other items like Gerry cans. Does anyone have the correct scale dimensions from which we might fabricate our own? Is there someone who makes them for sale?

Hi Tom, The 1/6 Jerry cans are available from several sources.
I have a number of Dragon cans which are pre-painted and available in several different colours and styles and also some of the resin ones from Armorpax which are also very good but will require painting.
I can recommend both tbh.

Good morning all, weather just starting to clear...rough old night. I am making progress, although doctors, hospital, and other appointments keep getting in the way. Second 'jab' booked for next week. I have laid out the motion pack ( on the dinning room table ) for said 'Bench Test'. I enjoy this part of the build, it is less of a challenge with the new 'Red' boxes.
Excellent StuG example in the photograph Tom, pleased you managed to post, very nice. Keep well and safe everyone, it ain't over yet, so be careful. ...Mick

Regarding your electronics, did you add a battery isolation switch to the set up? I've found that it helps to keep the batteries from draining when you're not running the model for months at a time between charges.

Also, I added a 24v charging port to charge both batteries, and so far, it seems to work well. However, in a previous post by Adrian Harris, it might be a better idea to install two charging ports, one each for each of the 12v batteries to avoid any balancing issues. I think it might depend on how frequently you have to charge the system (or, how often you run the models).
