Hi all, I just hope they work as well as they look.

Great looking tracks are fine as long as they stay on the tank.
I dont want to turn my Panther into a static model.

Cheers

Tim.

Hi all
Just received few sample of the Panther track link. The first out is not very good and I have ask them to modify to the very correct measurement. And it will take time for the caster to redo the module. Hope we can wait to have a perfect one.
The pin and collars are perfect.
Cheers
Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for the update.
The links look awesome, the cast texture are spot on the real thing and the letters/numbers turned out stunning.

Regarding the measure it is very, very important the caster get the links exactly as my template or they want fit the Armortek sprocket/idler. Hope you have full control regarding that matter.

Kind regards
Kent

Hello Vincent,

Good to see things move forward and the tracks look very good.

I have one thing I´d like to point out and that´s the rather large space between the tracklinks (see arrows) and this leads to a potentially weak point (see circles) on your tracklinks;

Image

Compare with the real ones (especially the circled area on your tracklinks);

Hopefully it´s not to late to change these details.

Hello Vincent,

Yes you can make more rounded corners and a slightly bended end surface as your black line show, it will look better.

Kent

Hello All
Just received the third sample from the caster..it is still not 100% perfect..
The week point mentioned by Per have a little improvement but not perfect.. And if we insist to make it right will increase the cost.. And they seem can't reach our standard..so people who interest please give some comments.
Finally if they can't make it better, I will only produce few sets for own use cos I have deposited 1/3 of the total cost.
Regards
Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Don't be so hard on yourself, you have mine and I'm sure a lot of others deepest respect taking on this monumental task making good looking late Panther links with chevrons, track pin, guide horn holes and cast number/letters.

Soft spot? or not I'm still in for a set. Bring them on :D

Kind regards
Kent

Hi Vincent,

Good effort in trying to produce a very difficult part. Some things just don't scale well and remain functional. Expensive hipressure die casting still seems to be the only production method. However, for a static model these tracks would still be very desirable.

May I also suggest that the castings will have a market in batches of 12+ to replace the original tracks in the spare track holders on the rear flanks of Jagd/Berge/Panthers. The detail you have made in the guide horns would be especially appreciated.

Perhaps as the price of 3D printing in metal falls it will become possible to print such parts affordably.

Well done again. Kudos!

kind regards
Fabrice
