A big thanks to Mark,Gill and all the other helpers who made this years Open Days such a good event.
The day was well organised (as usual),weather good, food great,company friendly, and some brilliant tanks on show.
Looking forward to next year, if the Inca Trail dosn't happen.

Our fourth open day ( now turned into open weekend!) has come to an end. A record attendance in all respects, more people, more vehicles and from all corners of the country and as far afield as Australia!

The traditional model competition was held on the Saturday and the results were as follows:

Tiger 1 – Jeff Hyder
Best 'Other' German Tank – Paul Morris (King Tiger)
Best Allied Vehicle – Chris Fry – (Sherman)
Best 'Other' German Vehicle – John Davie (Sdkfz 7 half track towing 88mm Flak)
Best in Show – Paul Morris (King Tiger)



Paul enjoyed his flight in the Tiger Moth which took him down to the coast and then back for several fly pasts over the factory.




We had a multi choice quiz this year which was won by John Cooper and the 'Guess the Quantity in the bottle' was won by David Skeldon. Both unfortunaltely could not be with us on Sunday when the winners were announced however their prizes will be forwarded to them.

There are so many to thank this year, Thomas Benedini who came from Germany to talk about his sound systems, and afterwards kept busy answering lots of questions. Lee for his talk and demonstration on airbrushing (and for donating an action figure, as he always does, for one of our prizes), and Paul for demonstrating his zimmeriting. Jim, Holger, Marc and Chris W of the South West Tank club and Chris Fry for all their help on Friday setting up and assistance over the weekend. Mark Mitchell who spent all the previous week designing signs, forms and paperwork for the weekend and was also here helping all weekend. Lee, Russell, Tim & Steve for bringing their books, accessories and after market products. Phil Woollard for his live firing demonstration, Daniel and Sara who worked really hard the previous week, as well as at the weekend and my Mum for helping all weekend in the shop. Most importantly and of course thank you to all of our customers, their guests and of course the excellent models which makes the weekend the success it is.



You may have seen Sven Strobbe from Belgium taking many photos and videos over the weekend which he has kindly left us with and we will try and get as much of this as possible posted onto the forum over the next few days.

Well back to reality now, the tents have to be taken down, everything packed away and then we will try to catch up with the day to day.

Just one final thought, we know that many who stayed in the area commented on their accommodation, most of which was very positive. For future reference and while it is still fresh in your minds it would be nice to create a list of recommendations ( and of course 'best to avoid' if appropriate!) we will start another thread for this however to keep it tidy.

Thanks must go to the providers of the tea and cakes on Sunday, a very memorable day out.
Though i asked many simple and basic questions of our 'experts' which i never could via the forum. These along with help from Mark, Gill, Steve Winstone, Simon Manning, Paul Morris, Lee Sellars, Sarah Fraser and many others was much appreciated by a newcomer to metal modelling and painting.

Very good point Paul! I forgot to thank the caterers, (sorry) particularly Cachel who did an amazing job keeping everyone fed and watered! If I have forgotten anyone else, please forgive me it has been a very long weekend! but rest assured all the help received is really very much appreciated. Thank you.

It is also really good to know that the event allows those with experience to share their knowledge so freely with our many newcomers to the hobby.

Hi everyone.
I would just like to add to the list of people saying a big thank you to Mark and Gill and all who helped out in any way to put on such a great weekend.

There were some great models again this year and its always good to meet up with old friends and meet new ones too, I did not get a chance to post any pics of my King Tiger prior to the open weekend so here are one or two.

I would just like to add that this year has not been such a good one for me and that without the help of my son Vincent I would not have been able to achieve what I have done so far as other peoples models are concerned, or indeed completing mine in time for the show... so

Finaly someone will do it so it may as well be me, having won the prize at the weekend I set off on what was a pretty scary walk to the airfield I do not mind admitting that I was S£&%£&$G myself but once we took off it was great and I was sorry when it was over...so ... here is the picture I know some people are waiting for .

OMG it’s Biggles, Chocks away, Tally ho Chaps.
You deserved to win Paul, the work you put in on your KT is such a short space of time was amazing, congratulations mate.

A big thank you to Gill and Mark for making it another fantastic Open day, as well as giving me another chance to catch up with old friends, especially one that remembered to get me that piece of cake they promised even though they couldn’t make it (Thanks Fabrice) Although I am not sure Sven understood my sense of humour!

Hi Fellas.

Just thought I would quickly post these as well, our weekend started with a trip to Bovington where after quite a few e mails and a bit of persuasion I was allowed to run my King Tiger into the museum and have some photo's taken with the real thing and the King Tiger that I built for the museum.

Hi everyone.
Just a thought did anyone ask Thomas how how he had set up the spent shell being ejected from his stug? I intended to, and never got around to it I thought it looked pretty good.
