Lovely stuff Phil. Huge thanks to Centurion expert Stephen White and the archive staff at Bovington TM for keeping us supplied with detailing info.

Nice work. Not familiar with that placement of the Larkspur series aerial bases: do you have a reference, please?

I can send you one of the reference photos by email Michael but it can't be published in any way due to the copyright but I will just check with the boss first .

I was intrigued also. Couldn’t see a pic in the Wings & Wheels book that you’re using either!
Some great work going on here as usual…..regardless.

Superb as always Phil.
Better men than me will tell you the co-ax was 0.30 and the ranging gun was a 0.50.
Cheers

Cartridge:
Coax: .30-06
RG: .50 BMG. The round was the L11A1 or L11A2 'flash-puff' round.
Weapon nomenclature was:
coax: L3A3 (or if earlier than about 1960, M1919A4) Edit: for Mk.5 and beyond.
RG: L6A1 (Edit: if fitted, Mk5 and beyond)

Or, if you go retro (Mark 3) the co-ax is a 7.9mm Besa.
Not sure about the ranging gun - a 20mm Polsten ?
