I'll have a ponder about how it could be done.

Great, this could be good.
My naive thoughts, main gun selected and fired / one of your units receives and processes the recoil signal trigger voltage/ to relay/ timed voltage impulse sent to momentarily reverse (maybe just one, maybe both) of the main drive motors, the length of the impulse could be adjustable to allow for any slack in the drive train, ie to allow for wear etc but a regular decent size impulse would be fine, the variation in the track recoil due to the main gears random "stopped" position reflecting different charge loads, the ground and vehicle angle.
The unit would obviously need to be a "stand alone" device with its own power supply.
Exciting!
I'm happy to trial the device with one of my tigers and accept any possible damage to the final drive but I really don't think it will be a problem .

Hi Adrian
I could be in for a recoil system as well as Phil.
Kind Regards

Working on the drivers compartment this afternoon

Very nice job.
If you wish to increase the authenticity of the 'look', cover the panel immediately behind the driver with green cloth to simulate the green canvas curtain that is normally the divider between the driver's compartment and the fighting compartment. When not in use, it rolls up and held by two cloth tapes with toggle clips.
I probably have an image of the left side wall of the compartment too, if you are interested. The image in the book has nothing mounted there, whereas normally there is the nomenclature plate (one of two types, depending upon the time period), driver's hand-held lamp, wireless I/C box, etc

Thanks Michael, any reference photos or diagrams would be great, I do like the idea of the canvas curtain to! Much appreciated my friend.

No, sorry Phil I'm sure it definitely says Chieftain on my plate.
I suppose for accuracy you'll need to drill four small holes and leave a patch of missing plate if you don't make one
