Hello Paul,hello Phil, thank you for your kind comments. It certainly makes all the effort worth while as the crowd gathers and the kids look in awe as she fires up. I used my motorcycle jack so that I was able to run the tracks.
For the next 'Show' in two weeks time, I will have the ramps in place and go for a runaround. Thanks again....Mick

That is an awesome trailer for one tank transport, beautiful model too. Looks like a great show with lots of cool vehicles and fine weather! Really nice.

Hello Bob, thank you for your kind comment.
The Comet, with its weight added to the trailer weight, holds the motorcycle trailer firmly on the road.
I was initially concerned that the tank trailer would bounce about in transit, thereby causing the tank to move around. However, in use, this has not been a problem....its impossible to hand lift the combined tank/trailer. I fitted a jockey wheel, which allows ease of movement on site.
Anyone looking for tank transport, and not wishing to use a car or van....then this method works a treat.
It is also ideal for display purposes. All being well we will attend a Vintage Show this coming weekend, I will take some photographs. Best wishes....Mick

It certainly is a great way to transport. Looks great for display also. Did you build ti or get it made. It would be ideal for me as my cars are very small. It would look even better with green wheels.

Hello John, the trailer is sold here by Halfords. I purchased the ERDE about four years ago, using it to transport my 1950 BSA Bantam, and then a 1950 New Hudson, to local Vintage Shows.

When I sold the bikes, I looked around for a new hobby, hence 1 6 scale tanks. As part of my pre-build thinking I came up with the idea that I could adapt the trailer to move the Comet around. Its made up with a baseboard of 3/4 plywood reinforced with 3" by 3" fencing posts. I fitted a one inch hard rubber horsebox liner for the floor. The drop down jacks and jockey wheel are extras. Ramps are as sold for this trailer, again by Halfords.
The stencils are by Axholme Signs, vinyl type, made and cut to order. We will road test again this coming weekend.

Hi Mick,

Where did you get the rubber flooring from for your trailer ? I gather it is used in horseboxes as you said. The reason is, I am looking for something to put on the surface of my bridge as the rubber matting I put on there is starting to rip as it is quite thin.

Hello Dennis, you need to locate a good 'countryside' type store.

We have a local store in Welshpool called 'Charlies', or Coed-y-Dinas. They sell everything for 'horsey' people, including rubber matting for horse boxes. The rubber mat is very hard wearing, used on the sides and floor. Standard size mats are about 6 foot by 6 foot and one inch thick.
They have been excellent in absorbing the shocks on the floor of my trailer....Mick

Second show under my belt.....Clwyd Veteran and Vintage Show, Park Hall Showground, Oswestry. The weather on Sunday was fine and dry, although we were inside an enclosed 'hall' for models.
I have to say that the Comet 'sounds' in a large enclosed hall with plenty of roof space.....are amazing. You could actually 'feel' the main gun 'boom'. Not a Tiger in sight....

I will attach a couple of photo's, there were all manner of models on display....steam, rail, coach, it was all there.

Well pleased, one of the visitors worked on Comets in the 1950s he was in the REME, on National Service, attached to a Tank Regiment at Detmold in Germany. Great guy with many interesting stories. Like having to blow the tracks links apart, with explosive, to get them off the tanks.

Most enjoyable day, with lots of visitors.....Mick

Robert, it looks fantastic on the trailer. There were a lot of envious eyes in that room!
I have looked through your previous posts, during your build. I have greatly enjoyed watching your Comet come together. It was great to see the support you received from fellow forum members.
I have started to accumulate all the bits and pieces I think I will need, tools, paint etc, to build the Firefly. Next job is to look for a hydraulic table on the Internet.
Are you going to Tankfest? We have just booked a B&B for the weekend.
