Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Hi Vince, it's the leg or peg that will hold the piece in place when it's not convenient or correct to use a bracket. The leg or peg which is either part of or is drilled into both the piece and the model, it is then tapped into an interference fit drilled hole and then bonded and finally finished with a milliput weld bead.
That all sounds like a legal statement

OK. I get it now. You modified the back of the wading hook to make one or two pegs.

A little more done. Does anyone know of a supplier of British/NATO single bulb light units suitable for our Chieftain's?

Hi Phil, your attention to details is outstanding and to say I am envious would be an understatement. I am enjoying following your build and your tips are going to be invaluable when I get to those areas. In preparation however I was wondering what size is the piano hinge? Andy

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Thanks for the praise Andy, I will measure the 1/35 kit hinge and let you know the correct size but basically somewhere around the 10 to 12 mm open hinge would be very nice but it's what you can get hold of.I am now trying a new technique which hides the hinge flaps inside the bin, I then add a dummy flap to the outside, this being bonded in place, details to follow.
The detail I'm adding is really down to the owners spec, I could go even further but hes very happy with the level I am applying so I'm happy to! I really want to spend some time installing my high pressure smoker and improving the sound quality so this baby will be something special

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Andy, after measuring the hinge on the small kit and transposing ( that's a good word) the total width of the open hinge would be no more than 14 mm. I doubt that the workshops contracted to build the bins had only one type of hinge so a little artistic licence can be used, so plus or minus a couple mm would not hurt.

More work to the rear fenders, to include the light brackets, fender bin frames, first aid box, number plate lamp and the lovely rear reflector.

Hi Phil
Great work with your project, must confess I took the dremel cutter to the studs then filed.
One learns so much by watching, many thanks for all tips.
Good new year
