Great pictures Stephen and a great shaping mod on the rear end of the triangle bins phil was it a lot of work?

Well John if you want complete accuracy then you will need to build new bins as Stephen will do no doubt but a compromise is just fine, I'm really not sure what Armortek was thinking wth the kit bin pointy end but it had to go. You can use the existing bin end for the mod, you will just have to scratch your head a bit. I'm keen to get hold of the piano hinges and fit those.

I already have the hinges 1.7 m approx and I know Stephen will probably do the boxes in brass. The original steel boxes are pretty good with all the indents, except the triangle boxes which are not quite the right shape. Are yours shortened or did you extend rear plate?

Hi John there's not a lot more you can do with the triangular bins as there's just no room to get that elongated back angle profile in there , so you just have to go with it.
Bin work today and I mean all day! I can see how some could spend years on the build, I've said that a few times I know.
I think I'm going to rework the kit bin latches , with a little work they should look just fine

The piano hinges look good Phil. They will look even better with the rivet heads you intend using.

Did you ever try flux cored solder or maybe fluxed solder paste?

Hi Phil I'll dig the boxes out tomorrow and have a look. The hinges I have are the 9mm wide fully opened, quite small. You seem to have lost that elongated bit on the triangled box. I've been busy finishing off the idler tensioner nut covers. Not sure if it works or not.

Hi vince, I use flux paste and cored solder, I should just take my time but I'm always in a rush! John I have no idea what that extra piece was as part of the triangular kit bin, have a look at yours and report back it will be interesting to see what you think.

Hi Richard, the strips are half round. You will need to source them from maybe ebay, they are expensive for what they are but just look at the transformation !

Phil, your build is compelling reading as usual. Really appreciate your posts, which are invaluable to us “amateurs”.

Richard, I used this stuff on my Centurion, although the required profile wasn’t quite fully half round. It’s easy to lay these strips flat side down on sandpaper and achieve the profile you want.
