How I'd love to be able to nip into the museum without a 400 mile round trip.
I also love how the museum have started removing the sprocket retaining nuts to prevent Michael being stolen.
Much like removing the wheels on a caravan

There's a Sherman in the car park of one of the museums in Normandy with the outer sprocket plate missing on one side and the track is hanging off.

That’s HORRIBLE! Trust me though, vandalism and disrespect for history occurs everywhere! Stephen, can I perhaps hold a little-bit of hope about the M4A1 ever being done since you were so close to it at your last visit....or did you just happen to need to use the Rest Room that was near by..

I think my hope of an FT17 is unlikely since one is being produced by a competing company... looks like a nice kit, but is more than Armortek is charging for a Chieftain or a Tiger!

No reason to overlap... I would love an FT17 renault. But not for $US 8K!

Just two weeks or so, in theory, to an unveiling. The one I would really like is a Land Rover. But probably too hard to motorize and RC... But if it's an M113 APC.. it will be my first track and I'll buy one!

Yes, I have personally seen them. High level of detail, museum pieces...but at a terrific price! So, I’d love to see Armortek take them on! They too go to Bovington, and are listening to what the WWII tank enthusiasts want. So, may the best company win! I personally am cheering for Armortek!

And based on what I can tell, made in China? There is a chinese company name/link at the bottom of their page Changchung Automation and Technology, Inc.

Which is interesting as China is not usually the place for low-volume, high-detail stuff like this. Want to make 100,000 kits, it's your place. But apparently, they are sensing an opportunity or maybe just trying to break into a market! Big investment for them to show up at Bovington! Would love to see their business plan.

And I think Armortek is going to continue to do just fine and it 'feels' like the US market is starting to open up more. Armortek's best move is that they are continually proving that community is just as much a part of their kit offerings as detail, size and options. And that affordable 'Blank Canvases' can appeal more than high-priced 'turnkey' kits! The company provides the raw material. The community provides the assistance, cheerleading, inspiration and even the upgrades. How many cool upgrades have been invented right here?

Back to the original topic... I wonder when we get another Kompact Kit, too?

This is just an 'FYI' size comparison between the Sherman and the M113 APC.

The Sherman is listed at 9 feet tall (and that measurement is to the top of the turret!) where the top of the 113 upper deck is 8.2, almost the same height, just a few inches shorter. And that's not including the 113 commander .50 armor shield.

The 113 is a few inches wider than the Sherman. Length is 19.1 feet for the Sherman and the M113 almost 16 so is only about 3 feet shorter.

The M113 would be almost the same size as the Sherman but would be much lighter because of the thinner hull walls and no turret. And it was faster at 42 mph compared to the M4 at 24 mph (listed).

I feel the M113 would be an interesting AFV to build, detail and drive! Just say'in…

That company....which shall remain nameless....is being watched very closely by friends of mine here in the States. It is (Appears to be at least) a radical departure from the usual high volume Chinese business model. Yes, after seeing the Panther kit...it’s awesome....They got it right! From the highly detailed guide horns on the track links (A couple different materials to choose from in their manufacture, depending on whether you wish to run the kit...or have a huge museum static display) to the suspension arms three different types, turret, cupola, muzzle brake shape, etc., etc, etc.
HOWEVER, I’ll consider their $18K “Turnkey” masterpiece in that large scale....but IF Armortek really wants in to the market here in the States...build “U.S.” that M4A1 that I’ve been begging, no pleading for. Yes, it’s a risk for Armortek to leave the comfort of flat plate panels designs....Yes, it might be a little more expensive of an offering to have a large Casting made....BUT, I think they’d be better off making that before “Though who shall remain nameless” does.
It’s time to play BIG! That is a perfect blank canvas tank too. Not too much detail in a large cast hull that they’d have to provide. They already have the turret, suspension,(Now that needs a huge upgrade too) tracklinks etc., but a tremendously popular design....that somebody will build...why not Armortek FIRST?

Nice thought on these other manufactures, but where are you going to be able compare notes, get trusted support and help once they've gone down the Ho Chi Minh trail.

I had a great unique model, but that's all it was.

It's always going to be impossible to please everyone, But anyone buying an Armortek kit, or a pre-built Armortek model will find their safe in the knowledge that you have become part of a great passive and active community.

Who can put a price on that?

Like I said, I’m cheering for Armortek to build it first....cause it (M4A1) WILL SELL! So many variations, so much history...YADA, YADA, YADA. Yes, I’m a fan of Armortek. I just wish they’d take a risk on my choice. Time will tell.....Tick, Tock.

What happened to the count down, I thought that was cool, guess ill do my own until the 31st.
