Great, looking every inch a fighting tank....you have put so much work in....these Armortek Tanks are addictive.

I have purchased two 'Jerry Cans' captured of course. I am looking in the wife's 'bit' box to make up bed rolls and other items.

I also 'won' on eBay, a 1/6 repaint resculpt head....to use as my driver...looks more realistic.....

Phil,I will try making the mantlet cover...following you advice.

Phil will you be weathering the paint job, me thinks some nice dry bushing on the corners and raised areas would look great with olive drab

Hi Phil
Weathering is something I'm new to,but so is Armortek Tanks.
But having admired some of the examples on the Forum,
especially in the Panzer's and Tigers and that great artist in
Australia,I've forgot his name,some excellent examples,so I will
have to have a try.
The only bit that might have put me off trying was some of the
discussions abut weathering looking fine on the smaller scales
but not so good on 1/6.
But having seen some of the 1/6 examples its just a skill that
has to be learnt.

I found some great matterial that felt like a blancket and I cut
and sprayed up 15 of them,not finding out too late that they rolled
up very thick and with 2 ground sheets round them,was too big a
bundle.
On measuring the thickness with a vernier comressing the matterial
it came to 1mm which = a 6mm thick blancket.
So I went to the shops and bought 15 cotton handkerchiefs,trimmed
them up and painted them,and the paint made the matterial
rougher to the feel.
rolled up good aswell.
RE Mantlet cover

my matterial again was only thin cotton and the acrylic paint made
it stiffer and even look like canvas.
The wire stiffeners were just garden trellis wire the heavier one
1.5mm.
making it was just down to trial fitting at every stage.

Hello Phil, looking good, thanks for the loan of the videos, arrived this morning.

Like the idea of using cotton handkerchiefs. I have plenty of those knocking about. Are those two 'storage' boxes on the mudguards, and are they handmade???
Are the webbing buckles from Armorpax???

Hi Mick
The 2 liitle storage box's caught my eye at the South West Model
Show when I went to see the Comet on the stand.
There was only the 2 so I snapped them up for when they
would come in use.
The buckles are from Armorpax in the WW11 british section
1/6 British Webbing Buckles AP045-UK
Ypo get quite a few of all sizes,thats why I've gone mad with the Webbing straps.
You can use 6mm cotton ribbon for the Webbing,but I chose to
use 6mm knicker elastic,because it looked good and stretched.
which I know webbing doesnt do that but when you are tightening
up the strapps those Armorpax handles on the Pannier side will not take too much abuse.
The bonus is also that when I put the 5 blankets wrapped in 2
ground sheets together,I put a bit of the same 1.5mm cord that I
am using on my Cam Nets,arround the pack to tie it up first.
The Buckles are easy to tighten up enough and it gripps the
pack realistic like.
The only downside to the elastic is its a bit harder to do the buckles up than the ribbon might be.
The elastic soaks up the khaki paint just like blankoing your belt
if you can remeber back

Glad the dvds got there ok

Hello Phil, thanks for that......and yes , I can remember Blanco....while I was stationed in Germany we changed from Blanco to Fleet.
The whole billet sat up most of the night scrubbing the Blanco off our webbing.

Would you believe..... we used petrol.....sick as a dog next day, with the mother of all headaches.

Will watch the CDs this weekend.

I am now itching to roll the Comet off the production line. I have been busy collecting information on the Iron Duke, to use on a display board.
