Hi all,

Brown Hawkins raised a question regarding the little chains on my filters. Where to buy. Very good observed Brown ! Those chains have been a night mare to me to buy. It was just impossible to buy chains below 2 mm width in a shape like a machine chain is formed. Only the common chip shape was offered in this oval shape of links. The idea was born to do a propper shaped chain myself. I bought a meter of some 2 mm ( advertised ) chain in oval ship shape. The original link size turned out by 1.9 x 2.3 mm. Then with a very small plyer I squeezed the 1.9 mm to 1.6 mm. By this operation the 2.3 mm extended to 2.6 mm and ready it was - after a lot of squeezing ! The result payed for the effort and relaxed my mind. Hope this info is of help for other builder having similar problems.

Best regards Roland

Roland,

Is this chain similar to what you used?

Brown, I do not think the chain you shown in your post is a chain for ship models. It looks like a decoration item. The ship chain design is with oval links while the picture show exacly round ones. You may try another modellers shop for chains.

If you dont mind I can send you my left pieces. There are a lot. Just let me know if it is becoming difficult for you.

Best regards Roland
