Decided to follow Steve's idea for 2 motor drive, these motors cost the same as one of the servos so not expensive. We will see how we go as I have 4 to make.

Photo of underside of motors taken at our meeting at Yeovil Railway junction yesterday. Went through the grass ok but a bit heavy for it.
The video was taken at Bovington Tank Museum on Saturday in the Tank Story Hall, I was hoping to do a run outside but inclement weather intervened so couldn't do it, but pleased with the results so far.

Hi Denis
Good to see you have got my set up working nicely. I have only done a very quick trial on my carrier on the patio and on the garden which was cut very short and all seemed to work well.
At the moment I am putting the carrier together so further trials are on hold.
Regards
Steve

Thanks Dennis, was worth the wait.
I guess the real test as you say is over some rougher ground.
Will be good to see some driving around in the dirt.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
Yes it is working well and I have used the original esc's on 12 volts as I had 2 one from each kit. I did order two 12 volt ones but unfortunately they have the delayed reverse function which is ok for wheeled vehicles but not tracked. The 2nd kit I built the owner wants me to try a lower ratio so the next lower is 47 : 1 to give extra torque but less speed so we will see what happens.
I am down to 154 links but it is very tight. I am also looking at a spacer on the rear sprocket as Pete did on his, I must admit with all the thrashing I gave it over the weekend it did not throw a track but on the rhs I did file out the sprocket holes on the track. Work in progress.

Enjoyed the clip, so good to see the model working so well with all the hard work and experimentation
A flashing Bren next perhaps

Climbing ability and turning on grass not acceptable with 16:1 motors. I have fitted 47:1 motors to the other UC but although climb was better the speed was too slow in my opinion.
I might go down the route that David Merritt has :-
Fitted 27:1 motors and drove round quite a bit at the Model Show at Lyneham on the weekend, on the grass which was quite long with gradual turns. Still not enough torque but the gearbox in this motor is more robust so will have to do for now.
