I have been working on my gun cowl Mk 2, trying to replicate the opening top hatch and the way the whole cowl swings aside to quickly remove the gun. All a bit rough as yet but should clean up, most difficult part was making a working hinge. The cowl is made by folding steel plate to form the cowl and brazing on the side pieces. There does seem a number of different versions of this cowl presumably due to being made in different factories and different countries.

Gun cowl cleaned up and etch primer. I love adding the extra rivets but I do seem to be getting through a lot of 1mm and 1.5mm drills !
I plan to paint the UC to desert yellow to match my 25pdr.

Would be nice to see some other builds?

Nice little job working on refining the tow hook and adding a rear light housing. I am getting this info from various Utube videos of UCs. Anybody know what voltage the battery supply will be? I have asked before but maybe folk know now. (Just seen from this photo I need to make leaf spring clamps to straighten then up.)

Few more bits and pieces. I have tried to 'improve' the split pins that hold the track links together by pinching the head to reduce its size. Also I would recommend 'Small Scale Lights' for the 7.2v powered LED side, head and tail light. Super helpful site that offers advice as needed.
Still not seeing other UC builds?

I had been thinking of using stainless steel welding rod as track pins, tweaking the ends to hold them in place. I haven't look at what's available yet but I'm sure something must be available.

I have been looking at a couple of YouTube videos of UCs, both show a long 'piano' hinge fitted to the rear tool box. I got mine from 4D Modelshop Ltd, and it is 'Hinge piano 304mm long 9mm wide fully open.

Nice surprise today the Motion and Sound packs arrived early. Again a super nice set of parts. The brake discs need a bit of deburring as stated in the instructions and I recommend shaping the brake arms as, again, recommended in the instructions. Just waiting for a battery and charger form my son, and delivery of transmitter Spectrum DX6 and receiver.

Super news, looking forward to seeing a first look. It's surprising that Armortek have sent options packs out before showing them off, say on the monthly news letter. (or did I miss something?)
Lower voltage from the norm option packs certainly opens the doors to lighter smaller vehicles in the future.

the motion pack for mine arrived yesterday morning the smallest motion kit
delivery box I have ever seen .
My UPS man even comented I must have down sized what I am building.

Been working on the rear axle unit, it mentions in the instructions to take care with the rear brake spring anchor bolt doesn't protrude into the axle tunnel. This is important, there is very little clearance inside the axle tunnel. The tunnel casing is a bit narrow so you have to be precise. Diff works well.

Perhaps I should of worn gloves when fitting the tyres.!!

If you do wear gloves, make sure you use black ones, so that the bits which get stuck to the tyres don't show up too much
